On Friday Sept 29 my PayPal account was "restricted" and all funds were frozen.
I was not notified of this action, or the reason for it. I only found out when I tried to log-on to the account. After several emails & 2 phones calls to PayPal, They have still (24 hours later) not advised me what the problem is or how to correct it. There has been no response at all to my email inquiries, and during my phone inquiries (the 2nd one to a supervisor) I was told that they [that department] had NO INFO & that I needed to make inquiry by email to the appeals department (which I had already done)...
This is a "Verified Business Account" that I have been using for several months without previous problems. As an ebay user with 500+ only positive feedback, We do several transactions, usually over $500 daily, so freezing a few days worth of funds is quite a bit of money to me!!! Not only that but now I have to worry that they may also stop payment on withdrawal checks already being mailed to me!!!
Practices like this are totally unethical (if not illegal). To freeze funds that they were mearly transfering on other peoples behalf... If there was a problem with a payment that they accepted, they should only freeze those particular funds!!! And for my protection they should notify me which funds are in question... Freezing the whole account without any notice or explanation is totally unethical & I will be seriosly considering closeing the account (as soon as allowed).

This is old news. PayPal does this to their customers routinely. PayPalDamon has said on these boards that "Verified" users are protected against fraudulent transactions. If this be the case, there is no need for PayPal to freeze a verified user's account at all, unless they have hard evidence that the verified user is perpetrating fraud himself. By PayPal's reasoning, a verified user's account should NEVER be frozen if another PayPal user is suspected of fraud.

That's normal for paypal's "famous" custom service. They will reply your email on Monday or Tuesday to say "some unusual activies on your account". And then they will told you on next friday to say "someone will contact you in a few days". They hold more than $1,000 on my account and just want to earn some interest on my money. So they don't want to solve my problem in a hurry.
PayPal don't care your bussiness. They only care their bussiness. So switch to other payment service as soon as possible. At least other payment service will not ruin your whole bussiness.

Hi goldmanx,
Sorry for the delay in responding ( I am not on the boards on weekends) ,but I did send your issue directly to the account management team last night. Please let me know if someone has not contacted you.
I appreciate you being here to listen to us complain and help us out where you can, and I beleive that goes for most everyone here. I have seen many situations posted here that you were able to get resolved quickly, and that's great. But I'm curious...why does everyone have to go through you to get a prompt reply to a situation like this? Like I said, I think you do a fantastic job in this area, it just baffles me why situations like this aren't handled promptly for everyone on a regular basis without your intervention.

Your account restricted on September 29, my is restricted from august and I don't even know the date. PayPal never respond to my e-mails. I'm probably not that lucky, look!!! PayPalDamon responded to you, but I'm steel
there. I think John Kothanek doesn't like me
very mach, because I'm to direct and call things with they names. But I'm not
in a rush, just keep watching this PayPal Conspiracy. I see that more and more people got stack and not one ever received explanation of the problem directly from PayPal in writing. Not replying on E-mail is typical for someone, who does Internet Fraud and after your money. Today PayPal feet to this category.

The "investigation" into this matter was expedited, due to my persistance, or possibly from other intervention... My business account, which handles the majority of my funds was unrestricted & the funds released.... My daughters account is still restricted!!!
Apparently there was/is some confusion with other accounts from the same email domain or address appearing to be other business accounts registered to me (which they are not, but only one business account is allowed)... While I appreciate the problem being resolved for me more quickly than many people, I only hope my daughter can resolve the same problem soon.. Although the amount of money is not as much, to a 19 y/o it may still seem like alot & is just as frustrating!!!
I am still very unhappy with paypal's lack of a quick response & for their overreation to a simple problem that could have been solved by a simple email question about the account info.

You are lucky, goldmanx. They restrict my account for 10 days and still got nothing from PayPal. Don't know what are they doing.

You know, I had a problem with my account too! Of course it turns out that it was my fault (the bank account number was missing two numbers--Duhh!) But, I have found that rather than whine and complain here on the boards, which are not the appropriate venue. It is best just to e-mail Damon! Since, my little error, any questions I have, I write him directly. He is a rather nice and very helpful guy! Insults and whining here on the boards don't work. Just explain clearly what the problem is in your e-mail to Damon, give as much information as possible, and be nice. I bet you that your problem will be solved very quickly! He is quick to respond and can find the problem fast.
Try it! Then you can have more time in your life to have fun! Its not healthy for anyone to be upset or upset someone else!
Thanks for reading this,
The opinions stated here are true to the best of my knowledge and are the opinions of those that have every little question resolved just by simply asking. Ask and you shall receive is the moral of the story here!
See my post "PayPal Lawsuit - anyone else having problems?" in this forum. I feel like I am living in Russia. It's scary that a company this size can get away with this. If I made a mistake then OK let me right it. Don't hold my money and not communicate with me. My attorney is collecting names for a class action lawsuit. Contact me if you are interested.
