Hi!
I was just wondering about the refferal bonus change. I have 75 dollars worth of pending bonuses on my account. I guess it's because the new sign-ups have not verified their accounts yet. So I assume that if they don't verify, then I get no bonus? That doesn't seem very fair if that is the case. They are using PayPal and PayPal is getting their money so why shouldn't I get a bonus for it? Please let me know how this new policy works. Thanks!!

Here's how it seems to be working.
We get a customer get them to sign up so they get a $5 bonus. They pay us through paypal we "special accounts" get charged 1.9% + .25 (or more) Buyer gets 1% of that back. (Paypals cash back bonus)
You ship, buyer recieves.
Life goes on.
Oh your bonus....Sorry new customer didn't verify.
editied for Ubb (is this board still ubb?)

Hi!
Well, that's not fair at all. I guess all good things do have to come to an end. Might be the end of PayPal, too. Thanks for your info and help everybody.

Of course it's the end of Paypal. Paypal's business plan isn't showing the profits it hoped would materialize...and it has totally bollixed it's meager attempts at public relations damage control after trying to change that plan (at the expense of the sellers) in midstream.
The situation with the fees and cash back bonuses would indicate that sellers are beginning to leave in droves and Paypal is trying to entice Buyers into forcing Sellers to use their service once again.
Buyers aren't going to care if the Seller gets his referral bonus (hell, 90% of them probably don't even care about that ludicrious cash back crap)...and neither is Paypal.

Hi!
Another worry comes to mind now. I have most of my money in x.com. If paypal and x.com shut down, what happens to our money? Should we all take our money out of our accounts? Do you think it's safe? It's nice to collect 5 percent interest but is it worth the risk? How is everyone else handling it? By the way, I have started using Payme.com and Payplace.com. They work great and are still free!!!
I wouldn't be as concerned about the money in your x.com account as it is an actual bank account which is FDIC insured. Now if you have more than $100,000 in it, then I would begin to worry.

Ya'll like that change in the bonuses, how about this one they just snuck in:
"On Monday, October 9, PayPal will modify its Signup Bonus requirements to encourage new users to reduce credit card spending by pre-loading their PayPal account. New users will receive a $5 bonus when they Verify their PayPal account and transfer $50 from a bank account to their PayPal account. In November, PayPal plans to introduce money market rates of return on PayPal balances. The Signup Bonus promotion continues to be a limited-time offer."
OK, I can understand them wanting users to verify their accounts, and I can understand the bribe of requiring you to upgrade your account to be eligible, but I don't understand them paying you $5 for ACCESS to your bank account which they have been saying for months is not their goal. I have not received the e-mail that is supposedly going out yet, but the copies of it I have read on these boards mention the change to eligible for the bonuses, but why didn't they mention the $50 transfer requirement?
