Don't get me wrong. I LOOOOOVVVVE paypal. But you do have to be careful, as I have learned:
I did a transaction about a month ago, paypalled the money (or so I thought) and sat back to wait for my stuff.
Three weeks. No stuff. A gentle note to seller: Hey, you, where's my stuff?
Seller sez: Where's my money? I never got an e-mail saying you paid.
I check paypal history (this was during last week's troubles, so, no easy task) her name's not on my history list.
So I paypal her cash again. Later that day, I open my history list, and there is the payment to her, right on top. AND that's when I realize that she's registered with Paypal under a different (male, possibly husband) name. And yes, I had paid her already, so I paid her twice!
Fortunately, she was quite decent and refunded promptly, but it taught me ANOTHER lesson: some sellers' accounts aren't listed exactly the way you think they are -- and some sellers are relying on the e-mails to determine when you've paid. Apparently these e-mails are none too reliable. (this should strike a chord with veteran ebayers.)
Just another thing we have to keep following up on! (sigh)
