I have a verified paypal account and was ripped off by a seller in california I found through classifieds2000.com. I sent them $375.00 for a laptop computer and never received it. At the the time of the transaction, paypal protected buyers from fraud...or at least that's what their contract said. Ofcourse now, for those of you who don't know, paypal DOES NOT PROTECT BUYERS AT ALL!! IT IS A COMPLETE RISK OF YOUR MONEY TO PAY WITH PAYPAL!! The "NEW" contract only calls for paypal to refund the buyer what they can get from the crook!(HA!). In my case the old contract and the new on are the same. I jumped through all the hoops and under the old contract, after 30 days I was supposed to be refunded my $375.00. That was December 7, 2000. I have received NO answers to ANY emails to date, not ONE besides auto-responders. I tried the toll (I paid for it) phone number and was on hold for...get this...45 MINUTES before someone picked the phone up and LAID IT ON THE COUNTER! I could hear everyone in the room talking and after a couple of minutes of thinking someone would actually pick the phone up and say hello I started yelling "HEY, PICK UP THE PHONE"...and they did, and hung it up without saying a word. UNBELIEVABLE! I swear to GOD that happened!!I've heard nothing on the investigation of the fraud nor on my requests for the refund after the 30 day time period had elapsed. Damon, if you are watching....the acount I paid was [email protected] my account is [email protected] and the date of transaction was 10/7/00, you know the rest along with everyone else. As of now paypal is in breach of contract by not meeting the 30 day deadline. I won't hold my breath after what I've read about paypal's underhanded business practices. I guess this is America anymore..."don't pay'em till they sue because most of them don't have the money to do so."
