well I am afraid Auctionwatch may have partnered up with another questionable service-SQUARETRADE. I completed the form about a month ago to use the seal on my auctions. They claimed they had to check me out. That made sense, if they are going to insure square trades for me and others, then obviously my business had to be "square". A couple of days later I received the email stating that I cleared and that I could use the seal. At no time do I recall requesting to join their Pay Membership services for a FEE OF $100.00, and at no time to I recall giving them my debit card info.
Last week I received an email from them stating that my two month trial membership had come to an end, and that my $100.00 membership fee was going to be removed from my credit card in one week. Naturally I freaked, wrote them a letter stating that I at no time wanted to be a paying member, I don't recall ever giving them my credit card info or signing up for any trial membership. The only thing I do recall was completing a form to have my own business checked out so I could use their seal on my auctions to show that I was legit!!

I mailed this email to them on the 15th of february and requested them to respond immediately and to NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CHARGE MY DEBIT CARD ANYTHING, that I did not authorize them to charge it.
Not surprisingly, they have not responded, so I sent them another letter today.
So help me God, if they charge me $100.00 for something I do not want, some heck is going to be raised with them, with auctionwatch and with the Better Business Bureau.
How can they get away with this? And why in heck did Auctionwatch join up with them.
Im sorry, but I think Auctionwatch really needs to stay away from any more partnerships with any company, no matter how good it sounds. A company that states its there to guarantee fair trading practices signs people up at whim and doesn't even have the decency or responsibility to answer their letters.
If there is anybody out there, that can clear this up and insure me that it has been taken care of, I would appreciate it greatly.

Hello All.

My name is Mae Umbriac and I am an employee of SquareTrade. We are always disappointed to hear about dissatisfied customers. In addition, we welcome feedback and appreciate your comments.

In order to eliminate any confusion, I would like to respond to the following post with a little more information about the steps SquareTrade takes to communicate pricing information to our members.

SquareTrade is currently offering a special 2-month free trial period of SquareTrade Seal Membership to AuctionWatch members. One way to take advantage of this offer is to click a radio button, choosing to apply for SquareTrade's Seal Program while signing up for AuctionWatch.

If approved for the SquareTrade Seal, the new Seal Program Member receives an automatic welcome email that also includes the notice of a membership fee after the trial period ends and a link to pricing information.

Additionally, direct links to information concerning the 2 month trial period and SquareTrade pricing are also located on various places on the AuctionWatch site, including next to the radio button: http://www.squaretrade.com/popup_sealapp_jsp/learnmore_main.jsp?marketplace_name=auctionwatch&campaign=AW_PS_1.

Approximately one week before the 2 month free trial period is about to end, Seal Program Members receive an email stating that the trial period is ending and they will shortly become a paying member.

As we do not want to charge people who do not wish to be charged, we respond to all cancellation requests within one business day with the exception of weekends and holidays. Cancelled members are not charged the membership fee.

Thank you for your post, we are doing our best to make our 2-month trial period and subsequent member fee as clear as possible. We do not wish to bill those who do not find value in our service.
