I just upgraded to windows xp pro, after making sure that all my software should work with it. Auction manager pro says it works with windows 2000, which is what xp pro is based on. I reinstalled Auction manager, and at the end of the install it reports an error message saying several files in the windows\system32 folder failed to self-register. After completing setup and running auction manager, after the splash screen, i get a fatel error message then the program exits. I have reinstalled numerous times, with no effect.

I have auctions to put up tommorrow, I need this software running, could you please tell me what i can do to fix this problem immediately.

thanks,
Dakota Chichester

Hi Nycc,

Please try uninstalling and reinstalling AMPro, and then synchronizing again. If you get the "failed to self register" message again, please copy and paste it in this thread.

As i stated in the first post, i have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, Auction Manager Pro many times. There is some problem with several files failing to "self-register" at the end of the installation process. After install is complete, and i run the program, i recieve immediately after the Auction Manager Pro splash screen, a fatel error and am forced to close the program. I do not get far enough to sychronize, or create listings or anything else, the main program will not load.

here are 3 screenshots of the error and the details:

this one is right at the end of the install:

these two are what i get right after the splash screen:

please find out how i can correct this immediately. It is obviously a registry problem. If you could find out how i can manually add these to the registry or whatever it is that needs to be done, i can get back to listing my auctions, but right now i can't. I don't have a lot of time to waste dealing with this problem. If i have to i'll use someone else's software. Please do not give me one of your standard "form letter" replies, i know what i am doing.

Sincerely,
Dakota Chcihester

Hi Nycc,

Thank you for providing the information, and the screenshots. I have escalated this problem to engineering and will post back when I know more.

how long will it take for a response? i see other posts here where an AW employee said the problem was going to the engineers and days later there is still no response back.

I need to know whether i can have this back up and running tommorrow to list items, or whether i should set up a new account today with a different listing management service. I just hired an employee to be here today, and now i'm stuck paying them, when they now have to list everything one by one. I need to get back up and running as i am loosing money and valuable time now. I hope you understand.

I look forward to their and your quick reply.

Sincerely,
Dakota Chichester

Hi Nycc,

I have heard back from engineering on this issue. Please make sure that you have installed the program with all other programs in the background closed. If you did this, try to manually register by going to the 'WINDOWS\System32' folder, and then run:

regsvr32 "C: \WINDOWS\System32\Comdlg32.ocx "

..and similar for the other files.

If this still does not work, you might want to try Sales Manager BE since the installation process is pretty similar.

I have tried this and recive the following error: "The Filename, Directory Name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

could you please give me the email address or other contact info so i can speak directly with one of the engineers. or pass this along to them.

I am not going to upgrade to the other program. I pay out enough as it is now between ebay, paypal, and auction watch's fees.

Please see what they make of this.

Hi Dakota,

Do the 3 .ocx files exist in the WINDOWS\System32 folder? For instance, the Comdlg32.ocx installed by AMPro is 140,288 bytes long, version 6.0.84.18. This a Microsoft system file, so there should be no reason why it would be unable to self-register when simply running regsvr32. Please make sure you have the right file on disk, and that you run the regsvr32 command properly, with the right file name (make sure there are no spaces in the name).

regsvr32 "C: \WINDOWS\System32\Comdlg32.ocx "

I will be emailing you a debug program -- please email me the resulting file so I can pass it on to engineering.

Also, have you installed anything else after installing XP? What programs do you have on there that are running properly?

ok, i got it to finally install without the error. I reformated the drive, reinstalled windows xp from a clean drive, then manually added the files to the registry.

it's working perfect, thanks for the help, now i can get back to work.
