When dealing with the inventory portion of AM Pro it is very very slow. Initially I had this program installed on my desktop machine and when it ran so slow I decided to move it over to my slightly faster laptop with more memory. While it does run a little faster it is still terribly slow.
Granted I don't have the fastest computer (PII-450, 256mb ram, tons of free HD space) but I still can't believe how slow it is running and am wondering why? With the computer specs I have now it still should be able to quickly maintain a 1000 record database. I have a 250000 record access database that runs quite quickly on that machine.
For instance, when I open an inventory record and add a picture to it then save. Saving takes about 20 seconds per record. Just opening the inventory portion of the softare takes nearly 1 minute. I noticed it is getting slower with the more inventory records I am adding, but I have less than 1000 now and am concerned how slow it will be when I double or triple that amount. As it is now it is taking me over an hour to assign 100 pictures to 100 auctions, that just isn't going to work in the long run. Especially if it is going to get worse.
I deal with a reasonable amount of auctions per week and frequently sell the same items over and over (hence my inventory is expected to get larger). Does anyone know why this is happening? Does it happen to the rest of you too?

Hi Yakooman,
If you can, try quitting all other programs that may be running in the background so that you are just running AMPro. This may help speed things up for you.

Hi Yakooman,
One other thing to note is that indeed the AMPro inventory runs slower as items get added.
For the type of business that you describe, I would recommend using AuctionWatch's advanced sales tool, Sales Manager BE. This tool provides a complete SKU-based inventory management system, with better performance even for large numbers of items. SMBE includes the ability to import the AMPro inventory, in addition to a variety of other formats.
