I have been trying to download the Auction Manager Pro...when it comes to unpacking the download into my computer I get a box that reads: "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run is incomplete. Please obtain another copy of the file, verifying it is the correct size, and try again." Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Vicki

Hello,
If you have trouble downloading the Auction Manager Pro software, try the following steps.
1. Disable any programs you have running other than your browser when you download.
2. Try saving the program to a location other than your current default. Example : If you have been sending it to a Download folder, try your Desktop, or My Documents folder instead.
3. Close out of your browser before you double-click the icon to run the installer.
These steps should assist you in getting a good copy of the software onto your machine to install. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi, Chris;
We had recieved your e-mail with the suggestions to downloadthe Auction Manager Pro software, (The same directions shown in this Message center.) I can't seem to make it work. Does 'browser' in your note mean my ISP(aol)? If so, I do not know where to go now.
We have some friends who swear by your Auction Watch. We would like to join you. Can you suggest other options to get the software to us, maybe sending a hard copy on a CD?

Hi txntqlvr,
Browser would be Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, etc. Do you use one of these or do you use the AOL browser? What happens when you try to download it -- what are the error messages?

I went back and tried again - re-downloaded to my desktop , closed the browser , then tried to open. Got the same error as previously reported ( The contents of this file cannot be unpacked ... ). Then tried downloading once more to my documents & the same thing happened.
I made sure both times my browser was closed before attempting to open file / install. What now ?
Do you have anything else open at the time when you are downloading? If you do, please close it. If you have any anti-virus software please turn it off for the download so that you can have a clean copy downloaded.

Hey, Sonya, Have AOL AND Internet Explorer. Am not computer literate enough to know whether AOL uses my Internet Explorer also or not.
I HAVE to download while on line with AOL. How else can I access the download protocol? I have saved the file ( which says it is complete) to my desktop, opened a new file folder, and tried to put in My Documents folder. Nothing works. When I try to 'reun' the program, I get the same error message.
The error message I get is:"The contents of this file cannot be unp[acked, The executable you are attempting to run is incomplete. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify it is the correct size, and try again." (1)I do not know what the 'correct size' is, (2) I have tried a dozen times or more to get another copy downloaded, (3)I have tried the 3 part fix suggested in on of the messages above.
Now I am trying to get AW to send me a Hard Copy CDwith the software on it. Is that goona' happen?

Sonya,
txntqlvr again. Forgot to say I have Windows 95. latest update, including Internet Explorer and use AOL as my ISP.
The exact size of the ampro.exe file should be 8,029,227 bytes, you can see the Size by right clicking on the file in the Windows Explorer and clicking Properties in the menu. If the file you downloaded is not that exact size, please delete the existing ampro.exe and download again.
Before you download again, please clear the cache of your browser. Use the menu entry Tools > Internet Options... and then, on the General tab, click the button named "Delete files...".
Be sure to choose to "save to file" when downloading, and please check again the file size when it finishes. If the size is correct, please try the installation again using the saved file.
If not, please let us know what is the size of the file on your computer.

It's me again. I tried suggestions regarding size of downloaded file. In the note above you stated that the exact size of the file should be 8,029,227 bytes. I downloaded it again this AM.
The downloading window said that it was downloading a file of 7.65MB. It then, ~ 20 min. later said all done. It had downloaded6.94MB. When I looked at the "properties" of the file, it said the file size was 7,278,120 bytes.

Hi, Christofer
I just tried downloading to "My Documents" for the 2nd time. Still no go. I have now tried to download to my desktop, my documents, and to another file. IT WILL NOT DOWNLOAD A COMPLETE .EXE FILE. You need to fix it !!!!!!! If, of course, you want my business. From the other notes I see in here, I am not the only person with this problem.
I would like an answer that will either fix the problem, you send out the software on
CD, or take my work elsewhere.

I'm having the same problem as mentioned above. I'm trying for my third time to download. I also followed all of the above suggestions. I love Auction Watch. Its the easiest listing software I've ever used, and I've tried several. Please don't give up, you'll love it.

Well here I am again. Still no response to my last message. Other readers of this bull. board have responded, I have tried their suggestions also.
I have disabled my virus protector, deleted all previous 'tries' to download, cleared the cache on my browser(aol), have provided my OS (WIN 95),etc.
The downloaded file size has ranged from 1,064,896 Bytes to 7.00mb ( almost the specified size). These attempts have taken from over an hour to under 30 minutes.
When getting close, not finished, suddenly the thind says:"Download complete" when the amount downloaded does not even meet the size that it says it is downloading.
I am at a loss as to what to do. It a fit of pique, I threatened to go to somewhere selse to do my work. We have very close friends who successfully downloaded and use AWP all the time and swear by it. I would very much like to have the same experience. Will someone at AW PLEASE HELP me?

txntqlvr - I'm not with AW, but I'll try to help. You may want to print this portion of the thread out and check it off as you go along.
Shut down and reboot your computer.
After startup, double-click My Computer to open the folder.
In that folder, double-click on your C: drive to open the folder.
Do you have a folder called TEMP in your C: drive?
If so, double-click and open it.
If not, double click the Windows folder and see if you have a folder called TEMP in there.
In either location select all of the files that end in ".tmp" and delete them! Leave everthing else.
Note: If you send them to the Recycle bin, empty that immediately afterwards.
Log on to AOL. Minimize the AOL screen.
Launch Internet Explorer.
Select Tools, Internet Options.
On the General tab, under "Temporary Internet Files" click the Delete button. Wait while the files are deleted.
Using Internet Explorer, go to the AW site to download AMPro.
When you are prompted for a location to place the file, put it in C:\Temp or C:\Windows\Temp (which ever one you have just cleaned out).
This >should< let you download the entire file.
The only thing that might stop you is AOL, which will think you are not using their service and sign you off, so check your mail every once-in-a-while during the download.

I was having the same problem as everyone else downloading a new copy of Auction Manager Pro. What finally worked for me was to NOT save it to disk, but to run/open it from the site. I don't know if this will help everyone, but you might want to give it a try. Oh and turn off any virus protection software running.
