Your so-called 'synchronization' really sux. Just because your image hosting expirations delete pix from your server, PLEASE DON'T HAVE YOUR SOFTWARE DELETE THEM FROM MY HARD DRIVE!!! Everyone that scans, crops, enhances, etc. their auction images spends WAY TOO MUCH time doing it, only to have AMPro wipe 'em out. Why not have your server database just flag the images on the subscriber's hard drive as 'inactive' and let it go. At 8-10 minutes per pic, I must now redo each one, time that apparently you folks don't hold too dear.

Hello,

Only the images stored within the Auction Manager Pro software are touched. Any images you have stored on your local drive you used to add to AuctionWatch will remain untouched. This is done to save space as your older unused images are cleared out and new ones are constantly added.

I will however pass along a suggestion for you to make an optional setting in Pro to leave images locally.

Thanks for your reponse but ....

... your response was even more disturbing in that now we must contend with a duplication of hard drive images. It seems more logical to me - who has done a fair amount of programming - that the AMPro "images" folder should contain a LINK ('pointer' / reference ) to the local images rather than a duplicate image - which might be more convenient for the program. Some of us do not have big $$ to spend on more hard drives.
Yes, the link itself will be 1K or so (depending upon whether one has a FAT or NTFS storage method), but 100 images will occupy 1 Mb rather than the 25Mb or more for duplicated files. And I'm sorry, but I LIKE having an extra 24 Megs on my hard drive, thank you.

Yes, we have a tradeoff here - more local searching when AMPro is trying to upload the local images vs. duplicate files all nicely packaged in one directory.

But maybe you should also consider the fact that not all of us have broadband - we can't get it in our area until next year. So we must also contend with the 'alleged' 56K modem ( ~ slightly better than 29K speed ).

Your software engineers might think of these considerations as well.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the suggestions, we will be sure to pass them along.

I hope my response was at least helpful enough to show you that if you had not deleted the original, you still have a copy to add to your images folder in AMPro for use again.
