I have windows XP and I can download AmPro, but I can't open it. I keep getting an error message. I have tried to change my desktop to the classic theme as mentioned in a previous post, but that doesn't help. Any other suggestions? I wanted to try the HTML editor...can I use that in Auction Manager or can I customize my templates in Auction Manager? I have a batch of clothing I'm selling and was hoping to put
Color:
Size:
Condition:
etc....in the template itself so I wouldn't have to retype it all the time. Is that even possible with either of them?
Thanks.

Hi Ihula,

What is the error message you get when trying to download AMPro?

AMPro does not contain an HTML editor -- Sales Manager BE does.

You could create an inventory profile and store the Color, Size, etc. in the description box. This way when you are creating auctions you can just apply that profile for that group of items.

It's a generic box that pops up
"AMPro has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveniece" Then it says I can send a report to Microsoft regarding the problem or don't send

Hi Ihula,

Is the program installed, or do you get this message when trying to install it?

No, it's installed. I get the message when I try to open it and run it.

Hi Ihula,

Try uninstalling it, then reinstalling it with any other applications in the background closed. If you have antivirus software, try disabling it for just the reinstall of AMPro. Then try to run the program -- if you get the same errors let me know.

I do have a virus scanner, but I'm not sure how to disable it. Before I try that, let me see if this is the problem. I'm still under the old standard plan which expires in April and I haven't signed up for a new plan. I had the old AMpro on my computer but haven't used it in awhile and when I went to use it it was out of date and wouldn't let me open it. That's when I deleted it and tried to download the new one. Is it because I haven't signed up for a new plan yet that it won't work?

Hi Ihula,

It wouldn't matter what plan you were on and whether or not it expired, because you would still be able to create auctions. Have you tried uninstalling it yet?

I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the same thing happens. I'm just not sure how to disable my Norton antivirus to see if that's the problem....you don't know how to do that...do you?

Before we go further with this...it's the HTML that I was really looking forward to using. Can I download the business edition on my plan?

Hi Ihula,

Unfortunately I am not sure how to disable Norton for a download.

The HTML editor does not come with the new version of AMPro, it is only available in BE. You can download BE and try it out, however it comes with one of the four premium plans and not with the old power plan, which is what you have.

Never mind. I tried to download that one and I received the same error message.

I was planning to sign up for the variable rate power plan (I think that's what it's called). It's the one for $12.95 a month, .05/listing, and 1%. Will BE not download until I sign up? I was just hoping to try it out first to see if I liked it.

Hi Ihula,

It should download. So you get the same error message -- did you get BE installed as well? Please let me know your system information, I may need to escalate this to see what can be done about getting the programs set up for you.

Hi Sonya,
I disabled the virus protection and still got the same error message for both of them. I'm running Windows XP, and use Internet Explorer 6.0. Not sure what other information you need, but I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks!!

I have road runner cable modem, and I think I have 64 MB of RAM - I know it's a relatively new computer.

Hi Ihula,

I have escalated the issue to engineering to see if they can give some insight on what else you can do to get the programs to run properly. Thank you for your patience.

Hi Ihula,

I have heard back from engineering on this problem. In the error window, there is a "to see the error report, click here" link. Please click on this link and check what the text in the following page shows - especially the first lines. Then copy and paste it into this thread so that we can see what the error is that is causing this problem.

For some reason it won't let me copy and paste, so I'll just retype it.
error signature

ModVer: 2.0.0.22 Offset:000075d3
Reporting details
This error report includes information regarding the condition of AuctionWatch Sales Manager BE when the problem occured; the operating system version and computer hardware in use; your Digital Product ID, which could be used to identify your lisense; and the Internet Protocol(IP) address of your computer
We do not intentionally collect your files, name, address, email addres......and it goes on. I can "click here" for technical information about the error report. It won't let me copy and paste that either. Let me know if you need that information and if it's ok to post that here.

Hi Ihula,

Thanks for the additional information.

Please:
1. uninstall AMPro
2. click "Start > Run..." in the Windows menu and enter the following command (which you can copy and paste from here):

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\regsvr32 /u "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DWSTG.DLL"

3. using Windows Explorer, go to the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 folder and remove the DWSTG.DLL file
4. install AMPro again; please make sure all other programs are closed while doing this.

If you continue to have problems afterwards, please let us know what error message is shown.

Thanks,

-Radu

I tried putting that in the "run" box, and when I clicked ok I got an error message that said "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 refers to a program that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive, on this computer, or on this network. Check to make sure the disk is properly inserted..."
Any other suggestions?

Hi Ihula,

Please go ahead with step 3 - removing the DWSTG.DLL file. You can use the Windows Search function to find it, if it is not located in the "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32" folder.

Thanks,

-Radu
