When I tried to install the update , it failed to update the file msvcrt.dll (Ithink that was the file) and promptly killed WIN98SE leaving me with a dialogue pop-up telling me that I needed to reinstall Windows. Fortunately, I simply restored my OS partition image that was less than 24 hours old and I was back up and running fine.
What's the problem here? I hope everyone does a thorough system backup PRIOR to attemtping this upgrade. And, why should a simple 3rd party program update be overwriting and updating critical system files?

You are on Windows 98, correct? What browser do you use? Also did you do the update from a previous version, or is this a download of the whole program from the website?

I run WIN98SE and use IE 6.0.2600 and the update that failed was the autoupdate, not an attempt from the downloaded and saved file. I am currently running AMP 3.75 with no major problems.
I have to wonder why AW continues to release updates/upgrades that aren't thoroughly tested for compatability issues with the more commonly used OSes such as WIN95, WIN95B, WIN98, WIN98SE, Millenium, 2000, and XP, not to mention MacOS. I can understand issues with Linux and such.
But, judging from personal experience and from the numerous other posts here reporting issues with commonly used OSes and email programs, it seems painfully obvious that this upgrade, like so many others before it, simply was not ready for prime time when you released it along with the nags that make unsuspecting users feel compelled to install it.
