I cannot get this program to install. It locks up after several minutes and I need to reboot. I have tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, and no go. I have tried to get in thru Run, and no go. I have tried to install via add/remove programs, no go. I have tried to download with nothing else running, and no go. I'm out of ideas....Any suggestions????

Hi Missy,
Download the software again, this time saving it to a different location than your default. If you had been saving it to your desktop, try your My Documents folder instead - or vise versa. Make certain you have nothing running in the background during the download process, and delete any copies you had previously downloaded first, just to avoid any confusion.
Once you have a good copy of the program downloaded, close out of your browser and your ISP/Dialup connection. You should have nothing other than Systray and Explorer running in the background.
Run the installer once more, and let us know the results of your efforts.

Well, I have tried to install as you stated to do, and still no go. I closed all programs except for systray and explorer.
It starts unpacking, but then nothing happens. I control alt delete, and the ampro and setup are running in the background.

Hi Missy,
What version of Windows are you using? With some operating systems, you need to have administrator rights to install.
Also, please check that the setting for the folder holding temporary files is correct. To do this, open a DOS prompt and enter the command "SET TEMP", then verify that the respective folder exists on disk.
I assume that the ampro.exe file has downloaded correctly; its size on disk must be 8.17MB.

I am using windows 98 second edition.
Yes, the program has been downloaded successfully.
I have installed ampro successfully to my desktop, but I use my laptop all of the time. I have both computers networked together, and that is working fine, but I still cannot use the program off of the desktop.
Whenever I attempt to pull the up program on my laptop I am getting "Run time error 429 ActiveX component unable to create object"
What is a ActiveX component? Something I need to download and install?
Is there a file I may be missing on my laptop??? I have had no problems installing any other software, so I would think that it has everything neccessary.

Hi Missy,
The ActiveX component error means that the SMPro program has not installed properly. Have you tried to install SMPro on your laptop? Is this where you have problems running the installation program?
If I understand well, the program was installed and runs properly on the desktop machine.
