I'm getting this message everytime I try to synch...
Synchronization failed - Failure on sending to server
There is a problem with starting the AuctionSync process.
Please check the Announcements page on the AuctionWatch site.

What IS the problem?

Hi there,

Are you by any chance behind a firewall or proxy server? If so, this could cause the problem you have outlined.

Please be sure if you are using a proxy server that the proxy information entered into your SM Pro preferences is correct. Also, you might want to check the security level on any firewall software you have. If it is too high, it might prevent you from synchronizing.

If neither of these scenarios apply, try clicking the Details button as you attempt to synch - this will tell you where the synch is getting hung up. Let us know the results, and we will do our best to help.

Thanks,

Diana

Hello tpfuel,

I'm having the same problem and I started having it on the same day as yourself.

I have yet to resolve the problem. Have you had any luck getting the problem fixed? If so, please let me know what worked for you and if I get my system up and working I'll let you know what I was able to do.

Thanks and good luck.

YES!YES! I did find the problem and now all is well! The firewall was the culprit and a slight adjustment corrected the problem.

If anyone else has this problem, check your FIREWALL and adjust to allow SMPro...or any other program that makes use of communication through the net...access. So simple, yet so frustrating that it's right in front of you and can't figure it out!<g>

We had the same problem and the same error messages when trying to upload auctions last night. We do not have any firewall software installed that I know of and I'm not even computer literate enough to know what a proxy server is... Would someone please explain? We use AOL 7.0 with MS Internet Explorer (I think that is the browser that comes with it).

We tried to upload about 10 auctions and about 8 of them uploaded and then we got the Sychronization Failed message. We hit upload again and the same thing happened. 2 hours of work for nothing. Is it us or is it AW??? The message we got didn't say to check the Announcements page but the rest was the same...

This is the message we received:

Synchronization failed - Bad response from server
There is a problem with images synchronization.
Please go to www.AuctionWatch.com and check your images.

Could our images be too large? Doesn't AW size them automatically?

Hello,

The error message you are receiving when attempting to synchronize indicates that there may be a problem with one or more of your image files.

In order to diagnose which image file(s) are causing the sync error, please try the following:

1. After closing all batches, click the "AuctionSync" icon in the lefthand toolbar.
2. Click the Details button after synchronization starts. This will give you a detailed log of which specific images and/or preferences are being synchronized.
3. When the synchronization halts, you should see an indicator in the details log that will tell you which image file halted the synchronization process.
4. Once you have the image file name, try deleting it from the image bar in AM Pro. Repeat this process until all images are synchronized.

You may upload the image(s) that were halting synchronization directly to our website using the Image Hosting page, and then reimport them into SM Pro after they are online. This way, those particular images will not need to go through the synchronization process.

There are several reasons why an image file may halt synchronization, but most commonly it is due to excessive image size, invalid image format, or corrupted image data. You might also want to check the security level on your browser, anti-virus software, and/or firewall software, as these can prevent image downloads as well.

If the above solutions do not help, here are some additional steps that may solve the problem:

- Go to your AuctionWatch folder on your hard drive (default location is My Computer -> C -> Program Files -> AuctionWatch.)
- Check both the "Images" and "Thumbs" folders, and if the image file(s) are still in either folder, delete them manually.
- Restart SM Pro after doing this, and try synching again.

If this doesn't do the trick, try deleting the images.map folder from the data folder in the AuctionWatch directory, and resynch.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact us again if you need further assistance.

If you have AdSub to get rid of popups, then that might be the culprit. Was with mine. Go into preferences and check your connection. Good luck
