I have a disabled buyer that can't use AW to complete checkout using the Lynx browser on unix. I've enclosed part of his email below that describes his dificulties. Can anything be done for this?

Thanks,
Larry

portion of buyer email follows
=======================================
Well, I've encountered this before, but I figured I'd try it again to see
if the problem still exists. It does...

Auctionwatch keeps reporting that I have an error when attempting to
submit my address and payment information, saying that I didn't select
a payment method, when I DID select a payment method. I try it over and
over again, and I can't get past the page that has the payment method
selection on it. I've seen this before, and think it is likely due to
the auctionwatch pages not conforming to the W3C Web consortium
accessibility guidelines (see <http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10/> in their
dependence on Java or Javascript on this page. I have
no problem sending payments via Paypal, surfing eBay or virtually all
other commercial "checkout" pages, so it appears to be basic ignorance
or obliviousness of the Web page standards on AuctionWatch's part.

If you choose to bring this up with AuctionWatch, you might point out
that I am using the disabled-accessible Lynx web browser via a
Unix Shell account, and send them the above w3.org link,
someday they may actually choose to address this problem with their
pages. Lynx fully supports https and cookies, but is a text-only
browser so it can't do Java or Javascript. I use Lynx because of
its ability to interface with custom devices designed to aid the
disabled. In addition, Java and Javascript are potential security
problems and can be turned off in any browser by the user and
therefore reliance on it is inappropriate in a general purpose
post-auction processing interface. I do appreciate you wanting
to streamline your auction process, but there's nothing I can
do to complete the AuctionWatch checkout procedure in its
present form, it appears...

Hello,

I will pass your thread to Product Development for review however I'm not really sure what can be done -- you may want to just communicate directly with the customer on this sale.

Regards,

Sonya

I just tried to replicate the problem that my buyer had using the lynx browser and got the same problem he did. It seems like a validation bug in the payment selection field. In the first screen, validation was done properly when you select a shipping method from the shipping list box. In the second screen you get a validation error saying that the payment method was not selected from the list box when it was. All other data on that screen is accepted (including the other list fields) and when the browser returns the error, all the address data in the form is still there.

Whether it is java, js or w3 related, other validations work properly so it seems like an error that can be fixed.

Thanks,
Larry
