Hi, new SMPro user here. I can't get it to sync, either with a batch or without. I've looked through the other threads and tried deleting images, the image.map file, etc. No effect. Here is what it says when I click details after it fails:
Start banner synchronization.
Number of successful listing uploads: 0.
Synchronization failed - Failure on sending to server
There is a problem with starting the AuctionSync process.
Please check the Announcements page on the AuctionWatch site.
I'm using cable internet, my connection is fine, I just can't get this to work.
Did you install the software to the default location in the program files folder, or direct it elsewhere? Sometimes installing to another directory can cause these types of error messages.
If all else fails, uninstall the program, manually delete the AuctionWatch folder that remains after using the Add/Remove tool, then reload it.

Yes, it was in the default folder. I ran the uninstall, deleted the folder manually after a reboot. Rebooted again, then re-installed. The startup wizard fails right away, saying it cannot connect to AuctionWatch servers. I can't figure it out. I don't have a firewall that could be blocking a port. I don't know why this one app can't connect to the net.
Are you perhaps using a proxy for your connection? You can find the SMPro proxy settings under the menu entry Edit > Preferences > Connection; please make sure that the entries are correct.

Great new company, now nothing works, just put up two auctions thru Sales Manager Pro, and lost both cause it doesn't work, 1 step forward - 3 back. What is going on the announcements sure don't give much of a hint. Anybody out there got a clue? Carol
What happened when you tried to upload those two items that you could not? Was there an error message?
If so, what did it say?
Jeff,
We will try and come up with some more things for you to try, but the name change has nothing to do with this issue. As you noted, you have been working on this since before any of this was live on the site.
Regards,
Christopher

Hi Chris, don't remember full message wouldn't synch and something about check AW announcements- of which there were none pertaining to this. My son-in-law set this whole thing up for me a couple yrs ago, I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff, so I have a call into him to see if he can figure it out. It sounds like I have to download AM Pro again, and take out the one in there now.So I think I'll wait for him to figure it out, I'm fried.lol Carol.

Chris, Shut my computor down, and after I brought it back up synch problem seems to be ok. I'll try and list tomorrow, too tired tonight, thanks for your response. If it goofs up again I'll yell for ya. Thanks, Carol.
I would also recommend going to the Windows Update site (click Tools > Windows Update in the Internet Explorer menu). Install the Service Packs the site recommends, especially those for Windows and Internet Explorer.
If the program is still not working properly afterwards, please install SMPro again.
If it still won't work, please check if the error message is the same as above. Also, please let us know more about your computer's configuration:
- what type of Windows you are using
- what processor
- amount of memory.

Well, this is getting really ridiculous. I'm a computer technician; I know how to work with computers. My Windows XP is fully updated. I even downloaded the VB update as requested, then reinstalled AGAIN. Still get the same error. I don't understand why this program refuses to work. There is nothing wrong with my computer or it's configuration. Everything else I have works fine. I've even downloaded other internet apps just to be sure. The error message from the Details button is pasted below.
Start banner synchronization.
Number of successful listing uploads: 0.
Synchronization failed - Failure on sending to server
There is a problem with starting the AuctionSync process.
Please check the Announcements page on the AuctionWatch site.
My PC is an IBM Thinkpad 600X, PIII 500 with 256MB of RAM, Windows XP SP1.
I can't keep fooling with this. If it won't work, I'm going to have to look elsewhere.
This is just one small thing to try, but it has worked for another XP/Pro user. Are you running your desktop in XP mode? If so, try changing it to the 'Classic' mode instead, then running the software.

I am also getting the same message. I've used AW for over two years, and feel pretty confident everything is set up OK. I'm using 98 SE and have not tried to list or sync in about about a month. I've tried to synch the last two days and everytime I get this message.
"Synchronization failed - General server error
There is a problem with starting the AuctionSync process.
Please check the Announcements page on the AuctionWatch site."
Please let me know what to do, I need to get some items listed.

Hello Dan,
If you are receiving a synchronization error on upload, please check the following:
1. Before you synch, please verify that you are connected to the internet and that your connection has not timed out.
2. If you are not entering the internet from a proxy server specified in your browser, from your toolbar, select "Edit", "Preferences", then "Connection". Make sure that the "connect using proxy" box is unchecked.
3. If your browser is set to access the internet through a proxy server, please make sure that the Proxy Host/Proxy Port settings within your browser match those within SM Pro.
4. Check your image file names, and make sure that they are saved as jpeg images (we highly recommend saving your images as jpegs due to size and compatibility issues.)
5. Try lowering the security level in any anti-virus or firewall software that you may be using. This type of software can interfere with synchronizations if the security level is set at high or medium-high.
6. Check your image file sizes, and make sure that your images do not exceed 40kb apiece. Large images can cause an upload to fail.
7. If you are uploading a large batch, try splitting it up into smaller batches of no more than 10 auctions. If your ISP is experiencing any connectivity problems, a large batch may cause your upload to fail.
If this checklist does not help your situation, when you get the synch error, click on the 'Details' box and copy and paste what is in there in this thread so we can see the error.
