I have now received 3 different emails from 3 different auctions saying that the shipping amount calculated in the auction was less than the shipping in checkout. I check (after the auction, naturally) and get the same amount in the shipping calculator as the checkout.
I guess these three people could have entered their zip code incorrectly during the auction, or they could be trying to get me to take less for shipping (which I've done twice, since the amounts weren't major) but it seems odd to me. The three people were not demanding, and seemed honest (that's just my sixth sense, nothing scientific).
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it the same code base for both calculators (or an API call to UPS?). All were for UPS Ground, and they were for distant locations (I'm on the East coast, they were all on the West coast).
From auction #5629774426 I received "Hi. Some confusion about shipping because the shipping calculator gave me $21.39 and the other calculator in the posting gave me $38.88 to the same zip 97124. Please clarify. Thanks, Suzi " When I check the auction calculator, it says $38.88, but I don't want to blow this person off if she correctly entered her zip code and got $21.39.

Hello Claude,
The Vendio calculation is the same in both Vendio shipping calculator and Vendio checkout, and it uses API calls to UPS. I have verified it using the UPS calculator (http://wwwapps.ups.com/calTimeCost?loc=en_US), and it proved correct (I have checked Residential Address and Ship From Retail Location).
The buyers who complained must have used the eBay shipping calculator, also available on the listing. Its calculation is indeed $21.39. The likely cause of the discrepancy is that eBay does not take into account package dimensions, rather large in this case.
Given your setup, it is probably best to not specify shipping costs for eBay checkout when using calculated shipping.
If it is on one of your auctions you will have to edit it and remove it from the listing. EBay may have a setting somewhere where you can turn it off but unfortunately I'm not sure where or if this exists -- most likely in seller preferences somewhere.
Apparently you can add handling fees for eBay calculated rates. Your current markup for your Vendio calculated shipping items is $3.00 (unfortunately I cannot see what you set up for eBay but you can correct it there).
Here is another link with more info on this for you:
