Will the current Sales Manager Pro work correctly with Windows Vista? I am computer shopping this week and would hate to have a new system that is not compatible with Vendio.

Christopher,
I'm upgrading too and should have my new computer within a week. Please impress upon the tech staff how important the compatibility issue is. Looking forward to hearing from you, Jim/McFiver

Hello,
Testing shows that SM Pro runs properly with Vista, but tyou must be an administrator.
We did have a bit of trouble at some point with starting SM Pro, and the fix was to set Pro itself to run as Administrator (right click the icon), even if you are an Administrator.
Future versions will take these things into consideration.

I purchased a new computer that runs 64 bit Windows Vista. Sales Manager Pro does not work on it. It downloads from the Vendio Site ok and comes up when you install the program, but will not come up from the start icon that installs on the desktop. I created an auction and my computer crashed when I tried to upload it to Vendio. Fortunately no harm was done to the system. Since I really need a new computer and windows XP models have all but vanished from showroom floors, I do not have many options other than to switch to Windows Vista. Any assitatnce than you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hello:
I followed the recommendations to switch to administrator in Sales Manager Pro and now can load the program from the desktop ikon.
My system no longer crashes when I try to upload auctions, but SM Pro still fails when I try to upload an auction and Windows terminates the program. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
If you are still having trouble with this after setting Sales Manager Pro to run as an administrator, please try switching the settings for Sales Manager Pro in the Vista compatibility menu to run in XP SP2 mode. You can do this by right clicking on the desktop icon for Sales Manager Pro and select "Properties". Then go to the "Compatibility" tab and select to run in XP SP2 mode. If you continue to have trouble with this, please let us know in exactly what way you are having trouble.
Regards,
Nathan

Hello dudlee,
Please confirm that you are also on Windows Vista. Please let us know in exactly what way you are having trouble. For example, are you getting an error? If so, what is the text of the error message and where are you seeing it?

Hello dudlee,
When you get a chance, please try this from the beginning.
First uninstall the current version of SM Pro that is on your system and then reinstall it again.
You may use the Add/Remove Programs Wizard in Windows to uninstall the application. Once you have uninstalled SM Pro, you will need to reinstall it. You may use the install kit that you used before if it is still on your system, otherwise, you will need to download the install kit again (please be sure to select "save to disk" when downloading.) Before you begin the install process, please be sure to close any open applications you might have installed on your system.
Once you have reinstalled the SM Pro application, please right click on the SM Pro icon and set it to run as an Administrator (even if you are an Administrator). Then right click on the desktop icon for Sales Manager Pro and select "Properties". Then go to the "Compatibility" tab and select to run in XP SP2 mode. Please let us know if you continue to get the same results after taking these steps.

Hello Nathan:
I am having the same problem with Windows Vista and SMP.
I unstalled and reinstalled SMP and made the other changes you suggested and they did not help. SMP still stops working and windows terminates the program when I try to upload an auction.
Any assustance you can provide would be appreciated.

Hello,
It seems other software programs built for XP are running into similar issues, which has helped finding a workaround for SMPRO.
Apparently there may be permission issues with installing the SMPRO software to the default 'Program Files' directory, as its setup to do.
Try instead manually creating a 'Vendio' folder in the following directory:
C:\Users\yourusername\Vendio
Then run the installer for the SMPRO software again, and click 'browse' when it shows you the directory your installing to. Point the program to this new folder you have setup and allow it to install itself here.
When finished, go ahead and launch the software and report back any issues that you run into.
If you can launch the program, but run into issues once open - go to the 'help+about smpro' menu and check the 'test mode' box and restart the program. Try it again, then let us know if the problem persists. (this will help you generate a file for further troubleshooting, which we'll have you send to us directly.)

Hello:
I did all of the above and Windows Vista still terminates my SMP program when I enter an auction. I ran the test mode and have it to send you. Where do you want it to go. My email address is [email protected].

Hello,
Doug - What directory did you end up installing the SMPRO software into in that last suggestion?
In the Vendio directory where you installed the program to this last time you will find an SMPRO log/text file. Please email this file to [email protected] and put 'ATTN Chris' in the subject line.

Hey Chris, I am not ignoring you, I just have not had time to implement this new "fix". is it working for others?

It is now Feb. 27, 2007. I see there still is no progress on this issue of SMP not being compatible with Vista.
I am just one of many more that will be looking for anwers quickly on this problem as I do not understand why Vendio did not research this immediately when the new Vista program came out?
I will rather drop this Vendio service that I have been using for many years so as I can continue my auction business without having this problem of Vendio's cause me to loose time and money as it is causing abd will cause lots of people to do.
Looks like someone is very behind the eight ball here! There should be much, much more importance and efforts to this concern here in the posts that there is. Also, I think a warning should be put out on the Announcements board. It is only fair in showing this respect to all who use Vendio.

7 Days and counting,to update this problem with some kind of solution other than "try this" or "try that" is scary. What is up with this Vista Vendio non-compatibility issue, for petes sake. ????

Niceprice isn't the only one...I'm patiently waiting too. My new computer has arrived and I need this issue to be resolved. Vista made various advance builds available to companies such as yourselves...so I too am curious why you folks didn't run SMP through the various Vista trials available to them prior to the official Vista release? (I don't need an answer on this, but someone at Vendio must have known this would be an issue.) Anyway, it's been a month now and we'd appreciate something useful on this matter.

Now 8 days and counting. I guess Vendio feels this is not important. When the list grows as it will shortly, maybe then it will be a priority. Time to consider other auction services. This is not the first time that I or others had to wait ridiculousy long for help. It would be nice for Vendio to just come out and say, we messed up, we did not give thought to review and test the new Vista program. This way they can stop experimenting at our expense with the "try this or that" solution from 8 days ago. I hear Andale has no problem with Vista. Wonder why?

Hello,
While Vendio does not officially support the Vista platform at this time, we are working to find a solution to this issue ASAP. We will post back as soon as we have more information available, as there are some who are willing to troubleshoot this and we will continue working with them and report back once we find a fix. (for now anyway, likely until a Vista specific version can be created and we begin to support this OS officially.)

Hi all,
I also wanted to let you know that we have tested SM Pro with Vista in-house, and did not experience the same problems that some users posting here are reporting. It seems to work with some systems/configurations and not others, which is what we're trying to figure out now. We do appreciate your patience while we work on this. In the meantime, we have found no incompatibility with the online tools used with Vista, so you should be able to work around this for the time being by using Sales Manager online.

If you are still having problems uploading auctions with Windows Vista, you can try this. It worked for me. Right click on the SM Pro icon and left click on properties. Bring up the compatibility page select Windows 98/Windows ME. Then try to upload your auctions. I do not know why this setting works, but it did for me. I was trying all of the settings out of desperation and found this one.

Finally had a weekend and a good brother to help me set up my new Dell XPS410 with Vista. After a day of configuring and tweaking, we finally arrived at the point late this afternoon to set up my main programs, of which SMPro is one.
During our initial attempt to install SMPro on our machine, all hell broke loose. The first alarm was the sneaky Dealio program, which Avaste immediately flagged as garbage, ringing bells and popping up several warning windows. We canceled that installation.
Trying a new install, installation was soon interrupted by the Roxio DVD ME program, which somehow felt it had a relationship with the SMP download and would not let us resume unless we searched for files on the Roxio installation disc. We tried that, it didn't work and canceled that installation.
We then deleted the Roxio component and tried again. This time it installed without incident. We then configured it to run under Windows 98, per the previous post.
Test auctions went normally, including adding photos, using HTML editor and copying/pasting auctions. Happily, we were able to launch without problems.
The only issue we're now experiencing is saving a batch, which does not give us any text window to type or name the particular batch we're saving. This may simply be a Vista files learning curve but I suspect not.
I'll post more here as I continue with listings through the weekend and early next week.

After getting things semi-working on Saturday night, Sunday morning more problems kept popping up on my Vista with SMPro: more pop-up windows, phantom Dealio files and more warnings of conflicting software. Shortly afterwards I encountered connectivity problems, unrelated, not to mention network issues, program incompatibility screens and a host of other madness. Sunday night laying in bed after my third day of battling this thing, I simply decided to send the damn Dell XPS 410 back. The Vista operating system is simply not ready for primetime. Even Dell support couldn't help with some basic soundcard issues. And if they don't know what the hell's going on, how could I count on support for other more critical issues. I'm back to XP SP2 and will probably remain so for another year or two. Good luck to all you Vista folks.
