My problem has been progressive over about 1 year now.
First problem was I could not get my listings to apply a fixed rate shipping discount to listed items on ebay.
I had to go in and edit all listings once they were listed on ebay.
The solution to this problem was to reduce my shipping rules from 2 to 1.
Not I have the illusion of the shipping rule being applyed but when buyer checks out they do not get a discount.
My rule is 77% off shipping each additional item eligible purchased within 30 days.
On ebay all listings show a discount applied when you mouse over the shipping area of the listing but they are not working.
Today I listed 3 items on ebay in test catagory. I bought them with a different id and the shipping rule works when posting listings on ebay.
I posted 3 same type listings through vendio and also bought those items with different id and discount did not work.
Been trying all day different things with same result.
test 1,2,3 through ebay correct
then posted in batches of 3 through vendio and failed each effort

Hello,

In order for the shipping discounts to work, the buyer would have to go through Vendio checkout (as that is what prompts the listings to be combined into one order, and then the discount is applied). However, it seems that you have Vendio checkout turned off. Are you doing these tests through Vendio checkout or through eBay checkout?

Regards,
Nathan

I am doing them through ebay checkout.
So to make things simple if I want a shipping discount to work and I want customers to check out through ebay I just can't do it?

also for my own research and trials. If I turn on vendio checkout does check apply to all previous listings posted or does it only apply to future listings.
I would like to turn it on post a few test listings buy them with secondary ebay id and check out to see what happens.
(In the past we have observed customers being confuse3d with checkout)
And hey thanks for quick response.....I know you guys have a tough time sometimes dealing with us confused people.

More details
When creating my listing in vendio these are the boxes that can be checked

(box)Apply shipping discount for multiple purchases in eBay checkout
....with this option I assumed the discount would be made at ebay is that incorrect and it would have to be channeled through vendio?

(box)Offer free shipping with the first eBay-supported carrier
....with this option it does give buyer free shipping through ebay

Hello,

Thank you for the additional information. What can sometimes happen is that the eBay settings can override the Vendio settings. Please log in to your eBay account and check your eBay settings for shipping discounts by going to "My eBay" --> "Account" --> "Site Preferences" --> "Selling Preferences" --> "Shipping preferences" --> and let us know what you have setup under "Combined shipping discounts". It is best to have your eBay shipping discounts match the shipping discounts you have set in Vendio.

If you turn on Vendio checkout, then it should only be turned on for the listings that are launched when the option is turned on.

Please let us know how your eBay shipping discounts are set on eBay.

Regards,
Nathan

Okay great.
This has been a work in progress as I said before (about 1 year)
I will be requesting a call Monday and review this with chris. I thought we finally had it resolved last week but unfortionatly not.
With ebays new detailed seller rating system customer satisfaction is more important than ever.
Currently I feel funny advertising 77% shipping each additional item and when they check out it does not do it.

In closing please respond to a previous question.

If I want to use ebay checkout and offer a shipping discount can I do it without rerouting customers through vendio checkout.

This question is very important. If the answer is no I can not then I do not need to continue to research this problem if it unfixable.

Ealier you stated I needed to have vendio checkout turned on is that still true or is there a correction to your statement

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion. Since you have the discounts set in your eBay settings as well, then they should apply. Hopefully our engineers will be able to figure out the cause of the problem. We will let you know once we hear back from them.

Nathan

Great I feel like we are slowly but surely coming to a solution.
I am not sure where the problom lies but here is some more specific details engineers might find helpfull.
My first problem was when listing to ebay it would not submit the discount in the auction at all...more specifically when the auctionj or buy it now was live it would just display like this

"No discount ebay display shipping area of auction"
Shipping: $4.45US Postal Service First Class Mail| See all details
Estimated delivery within 4-7 business days

"When discount applied to shipping it displays like this"when you mouse over discount your specific rule pops up

Shipping: $2.56US Postal Service First Class Mail see discounts| See all details
Estimated delivery within 5-8 business days

After discovering I actually had 2 rules and vendio would malfunction with 2 rules for shipping I eliminated 1 rule. By doing this my future listings would display the discount word on shipping are and would have the rule pop up when mousing over however buyers are still not having the rule work when checking out.

Now for what I belive is the most important fact about this mystery.
My auctions or buy it now listings display a discount in the shipping area correct.
On the auctions that have no bids or the buy it nows I am allowed to edit or revise according to ebays rules.
When I go into these auctions or buy it nows the shipping discount is unchecked which means I can add it to the listings. Okay even though its displaying it is active in the shipping area another part of it believes it is not there.
On one hand I believe vendio is telling ebay hey activate a shipping discount on this auction at the time of creation but ebay is not doing it and on the other hand there still m ight be a box somewhere that needs to be checked or unchecked.

yikes

Hello,

As we discussed it sounds like a number of things need to be addressed.
First of course is that eBay needs to either stop saying that there is a discount (and what the discount is) if they aren't really going to apply it during their checkout process, and second is that we likely need to support the eBay discount shipping rules to help avoid these issues going forward.

Currently the system we have in place should work and does appear to be working outside of the eBay checkout, so hopefully eBay will fix the issue with the listing showing something that isn't really working when the buyer gets to checkout. Additionally we hope to offer full eBay discount shipping rules support in the future.

"so hopefully eBay will fix the issue "
"Additionally we hope to offer full eBay discount shipping rules support in the future."

In vendio there boxes to check for listing upgrades like....
BOLD
Featured first
Gallery picture and so forth
Why isn't apply ebay discount when listed treated the same way? Or is it supposed to work like that.

I need to know on vendio's end what is going to be done to fix this or just tell me straight up that nothing is going to be done any time soon.

As you know I have been struggling with this for a very long time so hoping something is going to be done does not help me much.
If nothing is going to be done then at least I can plan for it.

Hello,

My Apologies, but im not sure I follow your new questions on this issue regarding the options for bold/etc.

Why isn't the option to apply shipping discounts managed the same way as enabling the bold/etc options? - if that is the question, really it already is. Regardless of where in the system the box to check is placed, the API will send eBay essentially a 'yay' or 'nay' for those features (ok, really probably a bunch of ones and zero's, but you get the idea) - and when you enable Bold, you see a bold title on the item description. When you enable Featured First (or whatever it's called currently) then you see the item featured first.
Similarly when you enable the shipping discounts option you would expect eBay to show in your listings that a shipping discount IS available (check) - and ideally what the discount will be during checkout (check again.)

Unfortunately while they are both relaying to the buyer that a discount on shipping is available AND what the actual discount will be - they are actually giving it during the checkout process.

To confirm, this means that the box has been checked, it shows up to the buyer as well as describes what the discount should be, they just aren't giving the discount once the buyer reaches the eBay checkout process.

Unfortunately there are no updates yet on the bug we logged with engineering on this issue. We will however keep this bug open until we find a resolution for any issues that exist in the Vendio system and will relay any information that becomes available in that time.

Chris

Thanks for the follow up.
Got a call today from vendio from George? I think he reconfirmed that the issue is known and is being w2orked on and should be resolved sometime soon.
I mentioned that if it was resolved in 30 days I would be excited.
He could not promise that or give me any deadline other than it is being worked on with a high prioirity.
I think I will leave this issue where it is at and check back every 30 days or so to see if it is fixed.
Good luck guys and take care.

Still no success with applying shipping discount and continuing to do research on my end.
In vendio the box I check states
Apply shipping discount for multiple purchases in ebay checkout.

In ebay when I edit to apply discount there is 4 categories of discounts with drop down boxes to specify which discount to apply. I guess my question is how does vendio apply shipping discount with only 1 box to check on vendio listing template. Shouldn't there be a command to specify what type of discount to apply?
Here are the 1'st level shipping discounts on ebay each with a drop down box because you can have more than 1 discount in each catagory.
1. Shipping Discounts Domestic Flat
2. Shipping Discounts Domestic Promotional
3. Shipping Discounts International Flat Profile:
4. Shipping Discounts International Promotional

Hello,

As discussed last night and this morning I will continue to work with you on this until we find a resolution.

The last test we did from here also worked, it just doesn't seem to matter what the carrier is either, the discount is being applied. Let me know what you find from your tests either here, or via the phone request or email places where this has been mentioned.

Chris

Chris when you called me you mentioned that you got it to work with parcel post but not with first class mail.

You also mentioned that when you bought the ones I created especially for you to buy and test they did not work.

You also mentioned that it does not matter if I have a promotional rule on ebay because vendio does not look at that function.

If I am wrong on any of this please correct me or let me know if this is updated findings from when we last talked.

Also you mentioned you would send some screenshots of your successful test I have not received those as of yet.

Hello,

I did mention that I had screenshots, but we didn't discuss sending them to you.

I did not say that using First Class mail failed when we spoke, only that I had done Parcel Post and that worked - though the First Class mail ones you launched did not appear to work. We have to find out why when I and engineering list these items with these discounts in place it seems to work regardless of carrier selected and yours is not doing the same. (something in our settings just must not match currently.)

You were going to list Parcel Post items to see if that made any difference, did it? I would guess not since after seeing that my parcel post did work I was able to confirm that the first class ones did as well, meaning its unlikely to be a carrier specific issue and more likely that there is still a mismatched setting in one of these accounts. - or whatever the eBay bug is that causes the listing to indicate that there IS a discound - and even indicate what that discount is, though never apply it during checkout, is something they just need to fix for your account and not for everyones.

We can discuss this when I call you shortly per your other call-in request.

Regards,
Chris

fix ended up being that on ebay it was called a shipping profile instead of a shipping rule. This was discovered after walking through the steps on vendios side and ebays side at same time. 1 world caused alot of grief...all works now.
