I just registered with paypal. I provided my credit card (which was verified), then when I went to pay for an auction I was required to enter banking info.
I thought how strange, but as I wanted quick ship on the auction I'd just won I entered the info.
Only to be told (even tho my spending limit is set at 250.00) on the send money page a sending limit of 24.44 appears. I tried to enter the transaction to be told nope, need to verify my banking info...that will take 2-4 business days before your two deposits will appear in my account
I took a look at the boards here and saw that the default payment option is bank, so I went to the site to change the default to CC. I can't find anyplace to change it.
I am not sending from my bank account, I want to use my credit card. If I wanted to use my bank account I would just send a certified check and be done with it.

charisse,
When you fill out the request to send money. When you get to the "send or cancel" stage before sending the money at the bottom of the form it will have a link called "more payment options". Click on that and it will take you to a page where you can set up the method you want to use your bank account or credit card.

There is a thread over on eBay Outlook where a seller's buyer is having the same identical problem. Glitch or something new???

I think both threads are about the same transaction. It's a bit strange that in both threads the amount of the sale is exactly the same, $24.44.

Depends on what glitch is causing it. If they've revamped the site and incorporated some error that sets the limit at $24.44 rather than $250, who knows how many people are affected?

Kinda looks like NEW PP account holders can't make a payment for over$24.44 without bank info and the time it takes to verify an account, even if they wanted to, would slow down the payment. So much for instant payment eh????
Last year I had a paypal account, I cancelled it when all the problems with paypal (ie., hacking, account lockups etc.)started.
When I bid on this auction, the only payment method accepted by seller was paypal.
I registered with paypal. It seems, the way I understand it, paypal never really cancels your account. All the information is still retained, so the new account and cancelled account were linked, hence the reason for the banking information requirement.
Too bad this information doesn't appear someplace on paypals' site. Would have saved a lot of aggravation and head scratching all around.
