Well, I finally broke down today and decided to verify my address. Mind you, I am already a verified Premier user, and I always pay for auctions JUST from my PayPal balance. NEVER do I pay with a credit card. For the past month or so I have paid by check due to all the red tape in verification after verification, and on and on and on..
So..today I decided I would pay by PayPal. Well, guess what? Now they want a 3 digit number from the back of my credit card that simply does NOT exist on my card. Once again, I cannot verify, although I want to. Rather ridiculous since I never pay by credit card anyway.
This is getting plain out and out silly.
Is is possible that PayPal is trying to discourage anyone from PAYING with this service?

That 3-digit number is going to stop a LOT of PayPal fraud -- at least for the first year or two, until it starts getting put into credit card databases.

I'm sure it will prevent a lot of fraud..and that is a good thing. However, I am NOT paying by a credit card, I am already verified with my banking info on record, etc...
There is a message in red lettering there that says there will be an alternative "coming" for verification for those of us who do NOT have that 3 digit number on the back of the credit card.
In the meantime...this is making it very difficult to pay for auctions for some of us.
I can only hope that the person recieving my payment will accept it.
I guess its back to sending checks and money orders for me. I have nothing against this verification process, in fact, it is a good thing, which is why I wanted to verify my address!!!! But, until PayPal comes up with a viable alternative, I will have to continue snail mail payments.
They already HAVE all my information for goodness sake! I have gone through every verification process they have asked for!

I am not angry about this, just frustrated!

I have had the same problem, I'm a verified Premium seller. I rarely buy, never by credit card. I called them today about the address verification and they told me this:

fax declaration of bank statement or utility bill, showing the same name and address to:
402-935-2237
ATTN: Finance dept
RE: Manual Address verification

and include your phone number.
