I'm not sure how they did it but I was ALMOST taken recently with a new type of PayPal scam. A buyer paid, and I received the standard email from *PayPal* stating that the money had been sent (non credit transaction) and that the buyer WAS VERIFIED. Later, on the actual site, I noticed that the transaction was identical, but there was a DIFFERENT email address (Hotmail vs. a local ISP). The buyer was still listed as verified.
Now, I was careful and didn't ship and contacted PayPal, who confirmed that the buyer was in fact a fraud, but this is still VERY sketchy!
Basically, the hacker compromised the other user's account (how, i have NO idea - they're in different countries), changed emails temporarily, then attempted to trick me.
Be very aware people! This was a **VERIFIED** buyer, yet was false. Make sure that any verified buyer you ship to MUST HAVE a verified address - that's the only thing that this user didn't have.
