Please clarify for my how the PayPal link in my store (and my Post Sale overall) is working. It seems that customers that want to pay with a credit card are being prompted to join PayPal - which is not required.

Before saying "check with PayPal", I already have - My PayPal account is setup as a Premier Account and seamlessly accepts the customer's Credit Card information like any other merchant account.

Regarding my PayPal account, PayPal states: "Upon review of your account, I show that you do have a Premier account,
and so you are able to receive credit card payments."

They also provided this info:
"A buyer does not have to have a PayPal Account before clicking on the
PayPal Website Payment button to pay you. If the buyer does not have a
PayPal Account, they will be asked at the time of the purchase for
credit card, email address, and shipping information. In effect, this
signs the buyer up for a PayPal Account. However, the buyer is not
directed to the PayPal site during payment, and the buyer does not have
to complete additional steps in order to pay you. Using PayPal Website
Buttons is completely free to buyers."

QUESTION: Is there a place for me to post a PayPal Website Button for STRICTLY Credit Card Payments? And the normal link for PayPal registered users?

How is the best way to handle this with my store and auctions?

I have a very clear picture of how I am supposed to do it but since I can't place the HTML driven Website Button on my store checkout I need to know how everyone is handling this situation at Vendio.

Thank you,

Greg

Disregard the previous post on this subject.

PayPal initially gave me incorrect information that now, after lengthy discussion with them, have provided the following:

------------------------
"I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. In order for
someone to send you money they must sign up for a PayPal account. This
is done through the PayPal link on your website. When they click the
link they will be led through the steps to open a PayPal account."
------------------------

PayPal made it clear to me that even PayPal Premier and Business account holder's (seller's) customers using Credit Card / Debit Card as payment MUST complete registration at PayPal before the transaction will be processed.

Of course that is NOT acceptable, and PayPal has been fully informed.

My personal apologies are extended causing any confusion from my post that was based on the information provided to me by the PayPal Financial Department customer service "professionals".

Regards,

Greg

i see what you are saying now-paypal is wrong in misleading you on accepting credit card payments without asking your customer to register first.
paypal is an economical way for most individual sellers to accept credit cards without having a merchant account.
many sellers prefer paypal as there is no long term commitment and monthly fee.
if you feel paypal does not meet your needs, you can get your own merchant account or apply for propay .
you can keep your paypal method on your site and if any of your customer does not want to register, then ask them to give you the cc and you can process thru your merchant account or propay.

Yes and to underscore the entire masquerade that PayPal wants us to believe and wants any and all potential buyers to believe, one only has to look at ANY auction out there that has the PayPal canned logo HTML that is widely used.

It's easy to recognize, it has the PayPal button, the small icons for Visa, MC, etc. and above it in bold black letters it reads:

"Pay me securely with any major credit card through PayPal!"

Long ago I changed that statement on my auctions within the HTML to read:

"Use Our Secure Checkout to quickly complete this transaction!
Pay securely with any major credit card through PayPal!"

Which I now will adjust accordingly to clearly state: (registration required).

Hey, I'll do my part to let the public know.

Regards,
Greg
