I am still unable to view the 9MB inventory.csv file in my Excel 2000 - I have tried over and over again but still can only see the first item when I open the file. The file downloads just fine (have downloaded it a total of 4 or 5 times just to make sure it wasn't a transfer problem).
I have verified that my Excel program is up-to-date and both the Excel program and my Windows XP are current and optimized. I have even dug through the knowledge base at Microsoft and verified XP is set to recognize the comma separator in .csv files. My Excel program works great - except for viewing the .csv file of my inventory from Vendio.
I have done everything that I know to do to try and view this file but still cannot.
Please advise with any suggestions you may have.
Thanks,
Greg Williams

I have continued to try to view my inventory data in MS Excel 2000 and it appears the HTML that I use in my item descriptions is wreaking havoc in the inventory.csv file...basically Excel doesn't know what to do with it or how to separate it and format it.
I've even tried renaming the inventory.csv file to inventory.txt file and importing it as a text file into Excel - using the import text wizard I was finally able to break it out but it's unreadable with all of the HTML tag garbage in there.
Has anyone else that uses HTML in their store item descriptions experieced this issue? I would appreciate any advice on file cleanup after import.
Thanks!

Open up Excel and look in the help files for (Data Parsing). You'll get a selection for (Merge or Split Cells or Data.) Basically, the csv file is loading into the first column and row. What you need to do is use the Data menu and find the Parsing feature. This will allow you to spread the data out across and into the other columns in your spread sheet. I'm no pro but check it out.
Thanks for your help on this, but it seems that I'm just having extreme difficulty with it. I believe the HTML coding in my item descriptions is what the problem is. I took your great suggestions and tried every combination possible (again) and still can't resolve the data into a readable human format in more than one column.
Basically... I give up. I've reinstalled my MS Office Excel two or three times now, exhausted myself searching for hours through MS Knowledge Base and have finally accepted the fact it just isn't worth the hassle.
Even though I am a seasoned Excel user, I have a glitch somewhere that just won't let me view this csv file. I'm sure the file integrity is fine, I'm virus free on my end, but something is amiss and I simply give up.
Thanks anyway!
Greg
