I just got an email about setting up a Vendio store so I got into it and I find that the set-up process here is absolutely HORRIBLE!
There so many problems, they're too much to list here.
But I will name a few.
When I attempt to upload an image in one of the little image areas, it uploads the same image to ALL of the image areas...why not just the one I selected? Then when I try to replace one of them with another images, it replaces all of the images again...not just one.
Also, the top image says 'not in stock"...now why would it say that?
Also when I click on the text to create a catagory, it doesn't let me do it.
Absolutely NOTHING works when I'm trying to set up my store!
I to an using Vista with FF3.5, but im not able to recreate the errors your seeming to have. Let's try to clarify the issues to be sure were on the same page, so we can get you some tips to bypass these odd issues.
When you say you attempt to upload an image in 'one of the little image areas' - where is this area your referring to? Are you just going to the normal image upload page here and clicking the 'select images to upload' button where your running into this issue, or elsewhere on the site?
The top image saying 'out of stock' - to clarify, this is on the page where you can manually customize the HTML code or edit different design elements of the storefront template so there is some fake product placeholders here to give you an idea of what your working with. Our apologies if making one of the placeholder items show as being out of stock threw off your custom design efforts.
As for 'nothing works' - what are you trying to do that you are unable to do so outside of the image issue you mentioned above? We would love to help but would need at least some detail to help us help you move forward if your interested in doing so.

I'm just getting a store set up in here myself and I just have to say my experience is pretty much the opposite to what the OP said - Everything for me has worked quite well and has been surprisingly quick and easy to configure. I did have a little confusion about enabling the various payment options but this was straightened out with a note to support and a post in here that Chris answered.
I have worked a bit with some other freebie cart systems and a couple of fairly pricey commercial ones and Vendio holds up very well indeed by comparison. I'm quite pleased with the "look and feel" of the store I've put together with Vendio.
