Dear Support Personnel,

In the past few days, our uploaded eBay auctions have begun to contain a blank section at the top of each auction called "Item Specifics."

Naturally, none of this information is present. Each auction already contains this information, in highly structured form, and it is present in all of our auctions. We have an automated composition & import system set up here, which works seamlessly with SMBE. We have been doing this without problems for over a year.

Where did this "Item Specifics" dialogue come from? How do we turn it off? Since it is neither possible nor practical for us to enter this information manually online, given the volume of auctions we manage, and as doing so defeats the entire purpose of using your software, what must we do to return to the former uncluttered appearance of our (highly successful) auctions?

Thank you.

Hello bookdlrs,

The Item Specifics section is actually controlled by eBay. Apparently, they have made item specifics available in the categories under which you are listing.

Unfortunately, as announced previously, we have stopped implementing new features in Sales Manager BE so you will not be able to utilize item specifics in listings you create in BE. We would urge you to switch to Sales Manager Pro instead, which does offer support for item specifics. Used in conjunction with online tools, you will not lose any functionality currently available in BE, but will gain support for features like item specifics, eBay stores, Vendio Stores, fixed-price listings, and other features that are not available in the BE software.

If you have any questions about this, please let us know.

Best regards,

Diana

Thank you for your reply. However, please specifically clarify:

Sales Manager Pro supports direct structured imports as SMBE does, including the "Item Specifics" information?

I apologize, I am not sure what you mean by direct structured imports - are you talking about importing data from a custom database?

Thanks,

Diana

I'm referring to the Inventory Import feature in SMBE. It is very flexible, well-designed, and supports no less than 9 different file formats. It allows user-defined mapping of external text to specific auction fields in SMBE. These include SKU, Description, eBay Category, eBay Duration and many others.

My questions, therefore, are:

(a) Does Sales Manager Pro contain the same set of capabilities?

(b) Are the Item Specifics fields included in the list of fields to which external data can be mapped?

Thank you.
