I have been using SMBE for the last 2 months and everything was find but all of a sudden I can't synchronize. It comes up with a "general server error" but my server service is fine. I can get online and my email is fine, I just can't seem to make connection to upload. It stalls after "announcement synchronization." It will come up with "general server error." I have worked with my server and everything is fine on that end. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SMBE and I still can't synchronize. I have reinstalled Internet Explorer 6.0 and no change. My server "mediacom.com" cable service nor Auctionwatch can't help me with this issue. I am hoping that someone out there maybe has had the same problem and might be able to help me. I am just lost to what to do? Like I said it worked up until last week but now it won't connect. Please help if you can.
To solve your communication problem, please do the following:
1. Check, using Internet Explorer, whether you can access the AuctionWatch site normally. Please check especially the tabs named "Storefronts" and "My Account". If you have any problems, please contact your ISP.
2. If the browser can access the site normally, then the problem might be a conflict among Internet Explorer system libraries (also used by SMBE in the synchronization process). Please check if an update to your Internet Explorer installation is available.
3. Only if you are running Windows 98, please reinstall one product that SMBE is using on Windows 98, and which might not be working properly.
Please go to "Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall the product named "DS Client For Windows 98".

Thank you -Radu !!!!!!!
Looks like #3 concerning the DS Client For Windows 98 was the culprit. I did exactly what you said about removing and re-installing and it now works like a charm!
I want to thank you so very much as I was pulling my hair out trying to solve this mystery!
I will keep this as a reference sheet--just in case it may happen again.
