Just have to comment on today's announcement that Yahoo!Auctions will be implementing listing fees on January 10.
If management had even looked at their auction venue they would have immediately noticed it's little more than a no-bid wasteland. On three occasions I took advantage of free listing days to move items that had been on Yahoo!Auctions for one or two months with no bids to eBay where one-half the items sold and many with multiple bids.
The problem is not poor-quality items, its Yahoo!'s inability to attract bidders despite 185 million registered users. As a seller, if I have to pay a listing fee it will be to an auction venue that has demonstrated an ability to attract buyers.
Despite their own problems eBay has demonstrated that ability; Yahoo!Auctions has not.
I will be moving back to eBay. As a seller I would throwing money out the window for auction listings on Yahoo!Auctions that for the most part will neither be viewed nor bid upon so it will be no more listings at Yahoo!Auctions for me.
