I've never subscribed to any third party escrow service because I have yet to see one that guarantees the safety of funds. It's scary to think about, but I believe that sooner or later one of these services is going to go out of business and leave all the users holding empty wallets - there's no law that regulates them in the US, unlike banks and credit card companies.
I require money orders or personal checks with time allowed for the checks to clear. If someone gives me a bad check, I can take them to court for fraud. If PayDirect or PayPal fold, I'm out of luck! Especially read the "fine print" in PayDirect - they guarantee NOTHING and leave the seller holding the bag. Don't use any service!

i accepted a paydirect payment before christmas and just received notice that it was returned because i never accepted it. i love paypal, but make it a habit to go in after i receive a payment and transfer it to my bank. not gonna leave my $s sitting there.
