Invited to the party and can't get in.

I did attend the event yesterday and had full function so it's not like I'm doing something wrong.

Shame they invite people, we go out of our way to attend, and they don't provide space.

Maybe they need a basic course on being polite as well as business 101.

You did not miss anything, I am certain. I was there awhile ago and not one of my questions were addressed. Very few questions were addressed; in fact, the answers were repetitive! From what I saw reported on these boards and in the transcripts from yesterday's chat, nothing is new and nothing has changed. Yahoo's PR chant remains the same and they could care less.

well, there should be room now because about a zillion people just exited because of how ridiculous it was!!! Not one straight answer, just a bunch of rhetoric stating over and over they are weeding out for the "quality auctions"...whatever!

YA-Who? is correct. I was there yesterday and everything worked fine.

Today I could not get in.

Wonder why we were denied entrance???

It was a waste of time anyway. I can't figure out if Yahoo reps are just spewing the company line because they have to, or if they really believe what they are saying.

The bottom line is they are POSITIVE they are right and everyone else is wrong. The fees are going to draw bidders and sellers to Yahoo Auctions ... period!

All I got was a blank screen and a box that said "Ask A Question". Wouldn't work for me.

outoftheblue, same here. I switched from Internet Explorer to Navigator and was able to get into the chat.

What a joke. Now they're two for two. Clearly determined to trash Yahoo!Auctions.

I had one question typed out, put it on the clipboard, and clicked it into the over and over again. No answer.

The question?

Consider this. I have 100 widgets at $2.00 each. Listing them will cost $25 at eBay and $20 at Yahoo!Auctions. Given that eBay, despite its own problems, has demonstrated an ability to provide sellers with pageviews, bids and buyers, while Yahoo!Auctions has not, exactly why should that seller list those widgets at Yahoo!Auctions?

I was there it was nothing most the chat rooms were not close to full the whole hour I was there not sure why people couldnt get in and for the life of me I couldnt figure out why I was there.

I was in 6 different channels of the yahoo auction team chat like I said all but 1 had only two to three users and I seen little to any serious chat about auctions at ALL and I and no answers or any yahoo auction team members.

Most I could make out of the whole thing is that there is a flood of sellers in the process of moveing all there items to lycos starting tonight and over the next few weeks that was the main thing most kept saying tell all other yahoo sellers you know who are looking to continue to sell free we are moveing on to lycos.

only other thing I got was that yahoo wants only High price items that are in high demand only they dont care about the glass clothes postcard sports stamps or memoribilia auction seller.

YaWho thinks they know what sells! They think they know how to run a business. How come we are the ones making the money and they are trying to get us to hand it over to them? If they would listen to those making money they could make money. None of us had said they couldn't have some, just not all.

they said they weren't going to make any value judgments about items, just about auctions. a desirable auction is one of an item that people want and will bid on.

Implicit in this is that the item has to get bids within at least 10 days. niche items that take two or three months to sell are not welcome. They don't come right out and call them 'junk', like some people around here, but they've made it quite clear those items are not welcome.

I guess I can handle that. It's too bad, my Yahoo auctions were just starting to pick up a tiny bit. Not enough to warrent listing fees, but enough to justify FVFs.

I've heard of the same thing happening at public libraries. The quality of the books in the stacks is determined by how often they get checked out. A book that only gets checked out once a year is culled. People go into the library and say "where are all the books?" (they're on yahoo! )

It isn't that you needed any specific book, or might have ever taken one out -- it was knowing that they were there in case you wanted them. It's the same thing that drives people to shop at toys-r-us, or a huge grocery store - it's not that you need all that stuff, or might buy all of it, but it's there should you suddenly need to go looking for it. Yahoo will lose this, on purpose. I predict the site will be all leather jackets and laser pointers by summer.
