Am I allowed to direct others to a good post about SmoothSale (in another thread) or can I bring that post to this thread without violating anything?

Molly001 - folks quote each other all the time on these boards, so it shouldn't be a problem. If you have doubts you might want to email one of the moderators or post your question in the moderators corner forum and ask them to take a look for you - at least that is what they are always having to remind me to do 'cause at my age you forget stuff like that - Rosalinda

Well, Rosalinda(!) you authored it, mind bringing it over? My thinking is if each alternative site or service has its own thread, we can effectively organize our thoughts, likes and dislikes, etc.

Hi molly001
I quess it is ok to talk about sites that A.W likes. They even let you put in links to other sites. That is except if you talk about LowestBids

klm - I have been instructed that "listing the URL of each one separately in a topic will only get it deleted" and was advised that it would be better to start a thread which discussed all the alternative sites we are considering - of course, we already have such a thread (Yahoo Alternatives). AW also stated "we would rather work with you on this" (as opposed to having to delete our threads). There we have it. I think I understand but I'll find out if I don't....

mrgroup - ROTFLMAO! See laughter's contagious!!! Here it is :

[I think that wherever you list or sell you should add a SmoothSale button. SmoothSale works like a live chat button - allows folks to know when you are online and talk to them via chat in real time. You have a storefront set up in the SmoothMarket and can list additional products that don't violate the auction site rules, and you can upsell, add sales, work out deals, shipping etc etc. You can push pages to your customer showing them other things - close deals on the spot - all kinds of stuff. The point is - you can have a few listings on Yahoo, or ebaY and use your SmoothSale button there - then if a customer clicks on your button to talk to you, they become YOUR customer - and you can take them where you want. I think the potential for this tool in person to person trading is immense - and since this is still a very young technology - the future potential even greater! Someone was talking earlier of finding a way to link to all of the places you sell - to have a central place that all your selling points to - SmoothSale has the potential to give you that ability. -Rosalinda]

P.S. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to taker a closer look at SmoothSale in the next days. I like the idea of a Marketplace in addition.

SmoothSale sounds great but would it violate the Ebay TOS? I used HumanClick, for a while, on my About Me page, but now they want $89 per month to continue using it.

Hi Rosalinda... Happy New Year my friend!

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for your excellent publication.

It helps to keep us subscribers abreast of all the happenings of the "legitimate" online auction sites.

I would recommend to anyone that is not yet a subscriber to Roe's newsletter, that you sign up.

I signed up not to long ago, and could kick myself for not doing so sooner.

She doesn't just talk about change, she fights for it and makes it happen.

Thanks again for everything Ros.

Pocono - thank you - and a very happy healthy and prosperous new year to you and your family!

outoftheblue - according to ebaY the SmoothSale button is ok. I have personally written to ebaY about it, and SS has worked with ebaY to insure it is in compliance, and on ebaY is primarily for use as a way for buyers to ask questions and negotiate after auction payment and shipping details. You also need to comply with ebaYs rule not to be linked to anything that is the same as what you are auctioning and sells for the same or less on SS. Other than that, you should be good to go.
