Since I have been checking out other auction sites, I have noticed that logging into my account on Lycos has become a real PIA. I have to type in my name/password 5 or more times just to advance to the next page! Anyone else experience this?

Unfortunately
I was starting to think I was just so upset with Yahoo that I forgot how to type.

Well, it's gotten worse for me. I haven't been able to log in for several hours and I even tried the 'forget your password?' link. Nothing works. I emailed AND called Lycos and they blame my browser - like the settings on them have magically changed on both my computers in the past day or two.
Is Lycos an anagram of yahoo?
This is not a good start with me for them....

I went to sign up on Lycos and got almost to the end when it said someone else was using my email address. I went to write down the 888 # and computer crashed. When I got back on I couldn't log on with my name and password and when I tried to register again it said my userID was already taken. I emailed Lycos and was impressed with the fact that within an hour I had an email from them but I still can't get on. The email - though fast - was pretty vague as to how to solve the problem. I don't think this is a good start for those of us looking for a new home. lowestbids and auXpal are looking pretty good.

No problems here, but I've been a registered user for close to a year.

UPDATE: I received an email from Lycos that advised me that they have been having some problems and suggested I try again later - I did and was able to get in! Good for them!

UPDATE: The problem has re-surfaced - I again cannot log into my Lycos account. I guess that sort of thing isn't important to the Yahoo...er....Lycos people...

I've solved the log-in problem by bookmarking the page after login. Their mass loading system is a pain, but not any worse than Yahoo!s. I'm willing to check it out for a while. Added Honesty.com web counters to a few items just to track.

Very frustrated with Lycos Auctions. Tried to signup last night but their server fizzled out right in the middle of the registration process. The website page paragraph stating that if the signup didn't work you could signup again.
Well, that signup again part was right now. But I can't. Why? My e-mail address is already in use. Duh!
So now I've clicked the link to send an e-mail to customer service. Reply to formmail was that they would get back during their regular weekday hours.
Only problem is, the website says customer service is 24/7.
Sheesh!

WOW, sorry to hear that many are having problems with LYCOS. I registered and listed several auctions just a few nights ago, more the next night and just three more today -- no problems logging on or listing.
In just a short time I have gotten used to the LYCOS listing procedure, its no worse than ebay - although not as smooth as Yahoo was.
The site seems to refresh its pages at a nice rate, the more time I spend looking around there, the better I feel about the site.
Hope I get some bids...
Tyops? hummmm....

Well, I've been a member for a few months, so I have had no problem logging in - posted today with no problem.
BUT, I WOULD THINK THIS SHOULD BE EXPECTED, IF A GREAT DEAL OF PEOPLE ARE ALL OF THE SUDDEN MOVING TO ONE LOCATION - I am sure they will resolve it -

Thanks for the tip on dutchbid.com, dman. I just registered there, and it looks like it has potential. We'll see where things go from here!
Edited to add: Hmmmm...just went back to the home page for dutchbid.com...looks like this is the new reincarnation of Gold's.

You're not serious? GET-OUT!!! One of my pet peeves is "authentic" Customer Service. I've heard enough about this site to steer clear.

I registered 2 days ago, and now can't logon either.
I emailed them this morning and rec'd a reply within 2 hours.
Dear Member,
Thank you for contacting Lycos Auctions.
We are currently experiencing technical problems with our
registration/log in process. I would suggest that you attempt to access
your account at a later date as we hope to have it fixed soon.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
I realize it is a canned answer, but it was pretty fast.
PS How do you bold, underline, etc. on these boards? I know HTML does not work. I looked in the help section but could not find anything

I'm a quote dot com subscriber (it is a data feed for online traders), which was purchased by Lycos about a year ago. Since then service has gone WAY down even though the subscription fee is $89/ MONTH. We have log in problems, server down problems, and customer support is provided by 3 poor guys at egroups... they rarely answer the phone or return emails. So... could service be any better for free? Just a thought.

These boards use UBB codes for formatting. For the most part, you just replace < and > with [ and ]. Do an AW site search for UBB codes and include the message center. There have been several threads on the subject, and what the available commands are.
