signed up for pootah last night. Sent email requesting feedback numbers. They emailed this morning apologizing for being slow getting things done. Haven't gotten anything listed there yet but am working on it. Hear they are real good about adding need catagories also.

I have been very impressed with this company and I do not impress easily. I plan on sending a few suggestions to them about features I like about certain auction sites and hopefully they will incorperate some of them.
So far, they have been very quick to respond and I plan on listing quite a few items there in the near future.
Hopefully, they will sustain the same level of customer service they have demonstrated so far and do not get overwhelmed with new sellers signing up. I think this one is a winner (among a few others!)

I also think this is going to be a good one. I sent email about importing feedback and within minutes it was there. I also mentioned a category I'd like to see and a couple of suggestions about it's placement and again, within minutes, the category was there linked to both locations, with email inquiring if I had any auctions that I would like moved to that category.

Customer service seems to be their top priority right now. All sellers should bear in mind though that they are new, and as more and more sellers discover them, the response time will have to slow down from the sheer volume of work involved.

Give them a try! All you have to lose is your time.

I just signed up at POOTAH and listed a "trial run" auction....just to see if the listing process was easy enough for me to navigate. Since I never learned how to post a picture from a third party host, I couldn't figure out how to get my picture into the auction. I sent an e-mail to the POOTAH help team and got specific and simple answers.... within MINUTES!.... and it is after 8:30 pm on a Saturday night!!! I then sent a "thank you" and got a follow-up from a help team rep. What does POOTAH have that Yahoo and eBay don't have? The kind of customer support we've all been starved for!
Here is the follow-up that I received:
_____________________________________________
Thanks for your support. We hope to become a serious competitor to "The Big Three" (amazon, yahoo, ebay), but we can't do it without the help of sellers and buyers. We aren't really trying to promote our site from the point of view of bringing more sellers. Right now we are concentrating
on ironing out bugs, adding features, and bringing in buyers.

Our theory is that if we can keep good technical support, good uptime and reliability, and keep bids coming in to the auctions, the sellers will come of their own accord via word of mouth If you can point out any holes in this theory, please feel free to let us know!

If there's anything else we can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thanks again for supporting Pootah Free Auctions.

It sounds like they are open to listening to constructive ideas and they are focusing on bringing bidders to the site. I'm going to include their link in my EOA notices to "nudge" some bidders to their site.

I think this site is built by people who feel the same way we do about auctions. Over the last year I have thought about building my own auction site but know I don't have the time right now to devote to it so I haven't. However, I have a feeling the people behind Pootah have had the same experiences, etc. I just hope they can keep it up!!!!!

Well I went over and checked out Poohat - don't really have much confidence in what I saw - I'll be honest, I'm not looking for customer service, just buyers. But I'll give anything a try once, and posted a couple of auctions which are top sellers on eBay and Yahoo - we'll see what happens, I am using the same two items to test Lycos, AuctionAddict, and a few others. I may even get really wild and test out old Amazon again! I still have a lot of credit over there.

my initial reaction was the same as yours jwpc. I wasn't even going to bother signing up. But out of curiousity I clicked their link to "see who the newest 10 members are" and had quite a little shock- TWO of the newest 10 members were Yahoo customers of mine!! So I registered! And it took less than an hour for my ID to be bumped out of the "10 newest" list!! I'd say it looks like Yahoo users are signing up in droves. We'll see what happens- maybe this is it!!

But WHY the name Pootah?????

Jamie at pootah must be VERY busy. Yesterday I sent an e-mail because I found an adult item in the jewelry section and he got back to in, literally, minutes.

I don't know long he can keep going at this pace. I hope that they have other people working there!
