Where is everyone going? I would like to know so I will be moving with a group. If enough of us end up on the same free auction site. It will be better for all. A large amount of sellers should attract bidders.

I like AuXpal about the best. PoOTah has potential but is still quite small and needs to work out bugs. I am listing duplicate items there. I am also setting up a co-op type web page (almost done). You can information on that by emailing me at [email protected]

im at lowestbids.com as i have found that it is the most user-friendly at least to me. i think it is very different from ebay and all the other ebay-ripoffs.

I'm trying auxpal, edeal, potteryauction.com (for art pottery) and will be trying lowestbids and a couple of others.
mrjoker:
Why do you call other sites "ebay ripoffs" ??? the auction software is commercially available to anyone who wants to purchase it- ebay did NOT design their own auction software (although they have adapted it greatly since they purchased it) I don't know what the software costs now, but about five years ago it was available for under $1,000.

i guess ripoff was a strong word. i think ebay look-a-likes is a better way to describe it. they just feel too much like the original. and while i havent had problems with ebay i also want to try something thats different from them.

Normally I don't do Yahoo auctions this time of year, so this last harrah is extra money now. It'll be several months before I start on another free site, but I'm considering BidBay even though they say they will charge eventually, they are getting more bids than other sites I'm checking out.

The majority of sellers looking for free listings will end up on the Fair Market sites. I've seen a lot of suggestions for sites with small followings, but they are too isolated to have any real potential. The Fair Market sites, with the exception of cityauction, are web portals with established traffic. The chance that one of these small isolated sites can match the traffic of MSN, Excite, Lycos, cityauction, & NBCi combined is remote at best.

Anybody for Auxpal? MMMMEEEE! I checked them out today and liked what I saw! Looks VERY user-friendly - can download pics from computer OR web-site (can even add music if you'd like) - No fees!!! - and I couldn't even find a whole lot that they did NOT allow - they look pretty open to possiblities as long as it's not gross or really out and out hurting somebody! I think I'm going to register there now! and give it a whirl! NOTHING TO LOSE!!! : )

I think I'm gonna use Epier, (which I have been on and sold on for over six months now) and Lycos.
And, just because everyone knows all online sellers are wealthy, and have money to burn, and because I feel its up to me to maintain this image, I'll keep selected items on ebay too.

Hi everyone,
First I would like to thank you all for your submissions to this post. It has informed us of other possible good places to sell our wares.
I'm coming from the perspective of posting a large amount of auctions every week, we do them professionally (over 8000 auctions on scattered across multiple sites).
To this end it becomes a matter of economics related to what we will post on each site we use. Besides fees, more importantly we invest time and energy in programming and clerical work to interface between the auction system and our inventory system. The site must warrant the sales for the time and energy we put in.
Like any businessman, I have no quarlms about paying for listings if I get sales.
We are presently posting on the following
sites and will continue to post in each:
- eBay (Yes we post there)
- Yahoo (will continue to post there with more directed auctions)
- Amazon (Been posting there for over a year)
- AuctionAddict (just started recently)
- Lycos & Excite (on and off)
- Our own private auction site
I have been aware of the following sites (but in the past have not seen even a minimal enough bidding activity in our categories to warrant our attention)
BidBay, uBid, Bidmore, AAANDS, Boxlot,
Through this posting and other threads
I have now become aware of other auction
sites to look into:
AuXpal, ePier, SnapRat
The one thing I look for are the right categories, and enough items for sale.
If I put up 500-1000 items for sale I don't want to be a percentage of the total auctions.
My question for you all, is what auction site should I add next?
Thanks
Rich
PS: I did not say the name of my personal auction site here because I do not want to violate the auctionwatch posting rules, if you wish to know the name just email me and I will happy to send it to you

Will continue to post on Ebay & Yahoo as usual. I just posted some items to Pootah as well, after noticing the ID's of some of my Yahoo customers there. And I think I may check out Dutchbid also once they change over to gold's format (and also once I get some new inventory- I'm low.). Ebay & Yahoo will continue to get the bulk of my listings, because they are responsible for the bulk of my income.

Most of my Yahoo! stuff is on FairMarket (via Lycos) right now. I'm also listing some items on DutchBid. I'll keep an eye on the other sites and see how things fall out. I've registered on most of them in order to reserve my seller name. As someone else mentioned, I'm letting all my winning bidders know where we're listing and have set up a web page with links to our listings on various sites. The few Yahoo! auctions I'm listing (gotta use up all that Wallet credit, ya know!) also have a link to the web page and a statement that most of our merchandise is now listed on other sites.
