I have decided to try Epier and Auxpal... would love feedback on either site.
I am having trouble with pics on Epier. Auxpal seems great. Leaving Yahoo unless fees change......

How come I can't find Auxpal on any of the search engines such as Yahoo?

I don't know why you can't find them on the search engine. That's sad! I will email them and ask them because I really like the site. Been listing there for about a week. Have one successfully completed transaction and have had 3 questions about other auctions. Easy to use and great customer service.

One of the reasons you cant find AUXpal on many of the search engines and spiders is two fold.

Frist AUXpal has only been online less then 90 day it can take 90 or more days to get in the free data bases so give it another month or so it will be found in most free to list search engines.

The bigger search engines like yahoo charge big $$$ to business .com s to be listed its not free some of these free auction sites dependent mainly on ad income more then likely havent made enough $$ yet to be listed in bigger directorys.

Interesting info! I didn't know that. I searched Auction Watches list of auction sites and AuxPal is not on that list either. Nor have they reviewed it apparently. If I am having that much trouble finding them..........

I posted this yesterday and it quickly got buried under other threads, but it just as well fits in here, so let me repost.

Just finished reading the AuctionWatch article Yahoo Fees: For and Against.

On the "nay" side, as expected, are many Yahoo Auctions sellers who say they are jumping ship and heading back to eBay or abandoning online auctions altogether.

http://www.auctionwatch.com/awdaily/dailynews/january01/1-010501.html

I find it interesting that there's not a single mention of AuXPal http://www.auxpal.com, BidBay http://www.bidbay.com, ePier http://www.epier.com, Lycos http://auctions.lycos.com, Pootah http://www.pootah.com, or any of the other alternative fee auction sites that have been mentioned here.

Tell me, does AuctionWatch read their own forums?

Didn't think so.

And then there was the error:

the article also was in error on the point of how much revenue Yahoo!Auctions will derive from their ill-conceived decision:

Blodget predicted the auction fees could add $30 million to $80 million in revenue for 2001, or 3 to 5 percent of Yahoo's total projected revenue of $1.4 billion. He even agreed with Yahoo's reasoning that charging fees would heighten the overall auction experience for its users by improving the quality of listings on the site.

http://www.auctionwatch.com/awdaily/dailynews/january01/1-010501.html

Merrill Lynch's Blodget re-issued his report saying he had ... err ... ummm ... made a mistake in not really looking into Yahoo!Auctions.

``We believe that the net revenue added in 2001 will be closer to $16 to $30 million, rather than the $30 to $80 million we initially estimated,'' Blodget wrote in a research report.

http://biz.yahoo.com/rf/010105/n05188226_2.html

Hmmmmm, little research presented as definitive facts. Little wonder there's no coverage of these alternative auction sites.

Hey! I am letting my auctions run out on Yahoo! - haven't decided what I'll do about it when all have done so. Am still listing on eBay - but last evening I listed four items on AuXpal. Very user-friendly! Gotta love that! I also "transferred" by feedback! Love that too! There are a few things I'm missing there compared to Yahoo! - I LOVED downloading pics with them! - AuXpal is kinda like eBay - you CAN download more - I just go through my Image Hosting - AUCTIONWATCH!! and put them in my description. Also, the only link "button" I can find on there is the one for referring others - I'm not so much in referring newbies for money - I just want them to be able to find my auctions! Also, I've only had to "hits" - but the items I have there now can "sit" there awhile - and just be counted in their numbers - hopefully the more "numbers" they have the better - however, I am thinking of trying a few on Lycos - just to see - but I really like AuXpal and I think I may hang in there awhile with them. I think they have GREAT potential! and like someone else says - Customer Service is GREAT! I have e-mailed 3 questions and had replies to 2 - maybe the other one got lost in all the other potential AuXPal - ex-Yahoo!ers e-mail!!!

I have checked out 10 different auction sights in the past week (Lycos, Epier, Pootah, BidBay, Snaprat, Amazon, Dutchbid, Auctionaddict, Popula and Auxpal. I went to each one more than 1 time to give it a real try. Haven't been able to get into LowestBid yet. The only one I was happy with was Auxpal. It's easy to get around on, page changes were fast, unlike alot of the other auction sights that seem to take forever to change a page (I'm stuck out in the country on a slow line, so anything that moves quickly for me is great!) I e-mailed questions to the sights, BidBay never got back to me, the others were very slow, Auxpal was the only one that got back to me in less than 2 hours. Picture uploading is familiar, don't wanna learn anything new if I don't hafta. My category is limited on Auxpal, but that is just a matter of getting someone else to list, which I believe will happen soon. My feedback transfer (208)&(410) was immediate!! I will be listing there starting tomorrow. I'm willing to wait for bids, since I'm very used to waiting for bids on Yahoo.
I will continue to keep an eye on the other sights as well to see what changes are made.

Hi everyone! I too am looking seriously for a new venue, I have a wonderful loyal following on Yahoo and want to start notifying them as soon as I find a place to land. I have listed experimental auctions on BidBay, Lycos, AuxPal and PooTah.

Some of the sites had my online name already reserved so had to create a new one.

The problem I am finding is that Yahoo! resized my pictures into manageable/viewable size, the other sites when I upload even though the pictures have been 'crunched' for faster loading are physically huge! I don't know anything about resizing photos from the scanner and do not have software to do this.

Any recommendations? Is there software on the net to download and do this or is there a website that will do it? I just need to make them smaller for viewing not KB size.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Regarding picture size - yeah, me too! Loved Yahoo! automatically resizing for me - but eBoo and AuXpal don't. But I still like AuXpal - will be listing more items there! If alot of us go to AuXpal - I believe they will expand their categories!

AuXpal will expand catagories. Just email them ideas. They lengthened the Title bar after I explained it was to short for my towels. It takes a little time for them to get some things done. One successful completed transaction since I started 1 week ago. Listed a bunch more stuff (been on Yahoo for months) this afternoon and I have 3 bids.

Hey Everybody! Regarding my post from yesterday - I e-mailed AuXpal regarding the link button to my other auctions - looked today and THEY HAVE ONE! Their customer service is GREAT! Buyers haven't really found it yet - but of us that go there, be sure to copy and paste the link on our other auctions - and like in Field of Dreams, "IF WE BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME." - of us, that go, it's VERY important that we do the links - there's alot of folks out there that don't know about AuXpal - especailly considering they are not coming up on Searches - so we just have to help them (and us) out a little bit!

I emailed AuXpal and asked them why they didn't show up on the searches. Within a few hours this email arrived.

Hi Loraine,

Most search engines can take anywhere from 2-9 months before new websites
get included in their searches. Unfortunately, it will take some time for
all the engines to find us.

Yup How well I know it take this long to get listed in these web search engines and then not good enough to get listed you must work your way up in the search ranks as well.

Its one thing to be listed in a search engine its another to find you start out on page 2000 of a million other listings in your catagory.

I have some websites I developed and made well over a year or two ago I had just about given up on that are just now starting to get 1000 veiws per month.

its a never ending cycle as you cant just register to these company once you must reregister every 60 to 120 days to stay listed.

And you must work hard to get links to your web site from larger websites which is where banner ads come in handy because the more large web portals your banner show up in the closer to the top 10 your web site get in the search engine search list.

This is why I am confident that ad income for yahoo and others many be down right now but will be on the rise again right now there is a drop in the starting of new web site and new money so less people buying banner space.

The older companies have used most of there venture capital up for advertizeing once rankings in the searches start to drop off so wont there page veiws and then the cycle of advertizeing will start again.

In fact I believe the up turn has already started seeing here on AW a banner ad for egghead this is a company I had on my websites that near two years ago stopped paying me to run there banners you couldnt go no where with out seeing a banner for this company then there banners stopped showing up now they are back.

There are many other companies that we havent seen banners from for over a year or more that are starting to advertize once again.

Look at the ammount of auction sellers starting there own online website with shopping carts and all auction site are cracking down on linking to your sales outside of your auction booth these sites want to survive personal website sales they to will need to start investing in advertizeing to keep there sales going so the new web start ups as well are on the rise as well.

Have just received this e-mail from AuXpal Customer Service! e-mail them yourself - the more requests, the better:

This question has come up a few times today. I have forwarded the email to
Dr. Orlando (our CEO). I am certain that he will respond favorably to the
request.

Early this morning I was checking out Auxpal--again-- and noticed the auctions were not in ending order! I e-mailed them about it, and within 5 hours I had a personal (not canned) reply from them, AND the listing order was fixed!! They are looking into putting in a "watchlist" so you won't have to bid in order to track an auction.
They are also working on making the text bigger so those with smaller moniters will be able to read what they are trying to buy.
They offer a "completed" button so you can see if there has been any activity in a category.
Auxpal welcomes and wants buyer and seller imput. Sounds like a great way to build ourselves a made to order custom auction sight without having to do all the work ourselves! And to be able to receive real one on one answers is nearly overwhelming after putting up with canned answers from Yahoo for 2 years. I feel good about the sight, and hope to help make changes, and sell some stuff too. I may be able to put the anti-depressents back in the cabinet after all, certainly no thanks to Yahoo.

I'm going to Auxpal. Very easy listing format and picture loading is a breeze. Perhaps they will be able to re-size later. Had trouble on Epier although I did like their site. Has anyone noticed that the first 80 or maybe more pages on the baseball cards are taken up by someone with a sportcard company. He lists no pictures. I like to put on sports cards but I don't know if they would get lost in this guys stuff. Guess I could try them on quick close to help them move through his stuff.
