I know it takes almost five days on Yahoo to get the same views as ebay but things will change with time! Yahoo will come out of this, as many people will see, after going back to ebay the cost is NOT worth the sevice that they say you have! Yahoo works, and i think with just a little more work, and this extra cash, they will start to click, as more people start to see that Yahoo is for real too! I run both and have looked at the others, I think i will stay where i am even while it is A tad dusty! Mark

You better hope you sell everything in the first round then, because if you have to repost, the total will be higher than eBays'.

The cash will be going into corporate coffers. According to the Yahoo!Chat's, there was going to be a real "customer service" staff in place. So why are folks still getting BotResponses to their inquiries?

at least ebay gives you one free relist. youll pay more in the long run at yahoo.
as for me, im going to lowestbids.com. i like the fact that its different than ebay and yahoo. and theyre supposed to be releasing their new web-based registration tomorrow.

I have written Yahoo ten times to find out why my rock auctions were ended - and I got the same 'bot response each and every time- they could not tell me why it was ended nor would they personally respond to my emails. I don't think there are many humans at Yahoo- just computers that generate responses based on keywords.

What are you talking about eGREED being higher than YaGREED???
$200. item:
List on eGREED $2.00 + $1.00 reserve
List on YaGREED $2.25 + .75 reserve
eGREED sells first try for more than reserve (covers FVF) = $3.00 (sells at $275. so you get $60. more than you wanted for the item)
YaGREED sells after 3-4 tries exactly at reserve = $9.00 - $12.00 listing fees
eGREED is cheaper in the long run. I, unfortunately, will be forced to list one item on eGREED tonight because I need the $$$ I absolutely LOATHE doing this but I had the item on auxpal for two days without even one bid on the $300. radio. The radio was the last item I had on Yahoo and only reached $125. in the bidding.

well, the good news is that now the listing order is back to time ending and it will be much easier to sell things the first time around. Plus featuring is really affordable on Yahoo. I'm staying too!!

I'm staying too. But I'm not even looking at the site for a few weeks. Still too many free listings. I had more sales, (much more) on Yahoo, before the mass exodus of sellers from ebay arrived. I know a lot of sellers are upset (I'm moving a lot of items to Lycos too) but I think a lot of people will be suprised at how well Yahoo does when items are priced to move.

I'm staying for now but not listing as much.
CAgrrl
I'm watching 20 categories really close and since the Fees were announced, the number of bids has decreased dramatically. On Yahoo, other sellers account for about 50% of our sales. It makes sense to me that the ones that are leaving + the ones who are upset but not leaving are not bidding right now.
We sold about 100 items in December. So far in January we have sold 7 items. Since the listing order has been fixed, it has made little difference.
I hate to be negative but I can't see very many positives about Yahoo auctions right now. Lisings are declining, bids are down, costs are up, and the Neighborhood Watch is canceling everything in site.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
I had 100 items sitting on Yahoo!Auctions for one and two months with no bids, and, gosh, they were really priced to move, most of them at $2 each. Then along came the first eBay free listing day. Moved them over and sold one-half, many with multiple bids.
Ditto on second the eBay free listing day.
Ditto on the third eBay free listing day.
The problem is not the sellers. And its not the quality of the sellers items. The problem is Yahoo!Auctions. Only Yahoo!Auctions.

CAgrrl - Not only are you losing sellers who are also buyers, but buyers leaving to stay with their preferred sellers.

RebelGuns- it's not like I don't have regular customers of my own on Yahoo! I do think it would be pretty stupid of me to totally abandon the people who have my Yahoo seller list bookmarked, don't you?
Yes, I have made many sales to fellow Yahoo sellers, but the bulk of my business on Yahoo comes from my established customers and total newbie bidders. Lots of international customers too.
outoftheblue- I'm sorry to hear that your sales haven't improved after the listing order switched back, but others in this forum have posted that theirs have. I don't have anything listed on yahoo at the moment so I can't say one way or the other what mine would have done. I have some new stuff to list on the way though, so we will see!!

Yahoo could work on a better "SEARCH." Looking through hundreds of unrelated auctions for the item you're looking for really hurts sales. They had said the majority of buyers use "SEARCH" so why not clean that up?
I would go back to Yahoo if bidding prices went up at least 10-25% to make up for the fees. I can't see that happening, when the buyers realize the selection is worse they'll be off to ebay.

CAgrrl - I understand the difficulty you are faced with with weaning yourself from Yahoo. It's a tough choice until you look at the big picture.
For the past two weeks, I've had record sales on Yahoo. But that market has yet to be fully impacted by what's going on.
If we chose to continue to post on Yahoo, for a fee, we are going to be doing so, playing to an ever-diminishing market. How long can that party last?
If you can continue on with Yahoo and contiue to turn a good profit, then more power to you. I cannot take that risk.
I deal in a lot of low cost (not low quality) items, and these require a lot of reposting. That alone on Yahoo will kill the profitablity of posting them there. These items will be moved to Pootah.com.
About 1/4 of my stock is in the $50-$100 range, but posting them to a dying buyers market will render than impractical. If I'm going to pay to post those, I would be better off posting them where the crowds are, and where the crowds continue to grow.
Again, anyone who feels they can make it here on YooHoo, please don't let me or us talk you out of it. But I am out of here. This does not mean I won't come back and try a few things every now and then, but based on what's going on with numbers, I think YooHoo is going to go the route of Amazon, and that will be the end of it.
This is all about their stocks losing credibility. Now they have sacrificed the credibility of their auction site in the effort to boost the credibility of their stocks.
I think they just don't know what they are doing.
Besides, with a little luck, eBay will own them within the year.

Does anyone really believe that reducing the number of items listed will actually bring MORE bidders to the site??
If so, I guess all Yahoo has to do is reduce the number of listings to Zero and they will have an infinite number of bidders.
Also, keep in mind that A LOT of bidders at Yahoo are also sellers. So by running off a large percentage of the sellers, it automatically reduces the number of bidders.

As you may have read from a previous thread, I just registered with Yahoo! Auctions to sell items there, in addition to eBay. I've always felt you get what you pay for, so, getting the best of both worlds, I registered and listed 29 auctions before the listing fees came into effect.
I'll keep listing for about 3 months, then decide if it's worth staying. Yahoo! will be like a new auction site with an unproven track record, so we can't compare to past performance. (Too many radical changes: new fees, less sellers, possibly less bidders???)
Like I was saying, you get what you pay for. If you're getting something for free, you really don't have the right to complain if there are problems. If you're paying to use the service, you can.
