When we were told of the new fee's yahoo gave other options that sound good. The first was classifieds the other is a store front with Geo Cities.
Classifieds have a limited amount of listings, I checked some Geo cities pages in the catagory I sell in and found many web pages with items for sale which looked good. Seems it would work for those items that sit until the right buyer comes along. It would be great if we could use this to rotate items back and forth and I will still be able to still offer the lower priced items we like to keep available for the collectors on a limited income (seniors- kids).
Unfortunately I am at a loss of how to do this. The basic formated pages are just that, basic, a few photo's and limited space for info.
I was under the impression this was an option to re-direct buyers to the items that dont sell so fast.
How do you create a page (pages) like this? If I understand right we can also put the PayDirect (and PayPal?) link into a set price item, all the buyer has to do is click to purchase. Will I have to go in and delete the item if it sells or will clicking on the paydirect link to purchase automatically delete it?

I have a feeling that establishing a well-designed and properly search engine-registered web site would sell more than listing in on-line classifieds.

I think its an excellent idea to setup a free geocities.com website. Then when all the sellers are settled in, Yahoo!Inc. can begin charging fees there too.

Yahoo already charges for store fronts. $100/mo. (max 50 items) $300/mo (max 1000 items). I don't believe this is a part of Geo Cities which is provided for free. In the TOS for geocities they do not allow commercial activities, although I do see a lot of sports cards for sale. I don't know where they draw the line. IU cards suggested a free store front with excite. Their store fronts and auction links are on their shopping pages. NBCi also part of the Fair Market Network is very well integrated. They have a merchant listings option in their auction search. The Fair Market Network is offering a lot that few sellers are taking advantage of.

Internetedge- Apparently we aren't all as gifted as you are when it comes to putting things in print. I have dyslexia, I suppose you think I am a retard now and should be booted because I dont meet your specifications as a human either.

I debated which was right (should have used a spellchecker) - whatever it is - I don't want to do it in Alaska! I would have about as much chance of getting a tan as I would selling something at geocities.

I think how people are getting around this is by putting their items in Geo Cities without prices and then if someone is interested in a item they just email the person and make a deal. They also use links to their auctions.
I looked at a lot of free merchant sites and finally settled on one. They have unlimited pages and room for hundreds of pictures. You can also get a merchant cc account through them. It isn't free but is the least expensive that I found.

Also, rollanotherone I meant nothing personal toward you in my original post. I was just making an analogy. I wouldn't want to see anyone booted for stating an opinion.

I've used GeoCities for my web page for a long time.
I use it to basically tell about this ol bitty and then have links to all my auction sites and photopoint site and favorite sites.
I have always had this linked to my auction pages when I list. So it's a get people to all my sites.
I don't sell anything on the page, and have just a few pictures.
It's an easy web builder page to use and had fun doing it.
It's free and I figure it does put me in several of their search engines. Do have a counter on it, and can't tell if it's given me any business or not, but heck it
CAN'T Hurt to put you out there all you can.
Try it you will like it.

I wish I had saved this letter, another seller contacted me who has the same sort of page thru geocities, he's in japan so it will take me awhile to contact him. I really dont think he is spending anything to do this and if you reveiw all the options for Paydirect and paypal they both mention buy price links to ad to your page.
