Auxpal seems to be emerging as the new site that will replace YAHOO's role as the #1 free site. I was picking the Fair Market Sites but they are plaqued with problems. If I could log in to Lycos, I would cancel my auctions, but bidders can't log in either so I'm not concerned. Pootah has been down for days but no one seemed to notice except a small group of fanatics in the Seller Zone (LOL). Still plan on listing "select" items with YAHOO, but I have a warehouse full of sports cards I have to park somewhere. Donations accepted on AuxPal as soon as I get everything listed.

I'm listing my books on AuXpal, too, but 'am waiting for Pootah to come up again, also. The listing over there is so much esier. (Bulk loader) AuXpal is still working on theirs, hope they get it fast. So far, no bids on any of my auctions on any of the sites, even Yahoo. I still have stuff over there, since the relisting hasn't cycled through all of them. The only stuff that is selling is: half.com. My newer books. Is there a place for items to be parked permanently until they sell, like half.com? I do like the idea of entering the item once, and them waiting until it sells.

Well, when the Yahoo mess came to fruition, I moved about 6 to 8 test auctions to a number of sites, including AuXpal. As of today, we have had 2 sales on Lycos, 2 on BidBay, 2 on Auction Addict and 2 on a specialty auction. Nothing on AuXpal. The items we chose to test with, run the spectrum from crystal, to lamps, to knives, so there is something which should attract a buyer if they are there.
Todate 01/20/2001 - Bids or sales on all test auctions except AuXpal.

Where are the buyers going to come from? I just don't see any advantage Auxpal has that will draw in buyers.

I post links to my auction listings on the web communities/clubs and newsgroups. After seeing "AuXpal" over and over, collectors click on the links and start bookmarking the site. Yahoo Clubs, MSN communities clubs, Lycos clubs, etc. have collector clubs for just about everything you would list on the auctions sites. I would have prefered sticking with the Fair Market Sites but they currently have more problems than I can deal with.

I haved moved my auctions over to Auxpal and think it is a very user friendly site. I am concerned that bidders aren't going to know about Auxpal unless it is picked up and advertised somehow, whereas Yahoo auctions did so well because Yahoo is a search engine and it was advertised there. Correct me if I am wrong if there is advertisement about Auxpal, and let me know where to find it.

Well, Yahoo did not have many bids before they went down, so Auxpal is no worse off for that. I think people will go. I do like the idea of earning auction credit, and cash. I think if Paypal had not done the referral bonus, they would not be the force they are today, and they didn't do advertising. I placed an item on Auxpal, and it has 4 bids. I am shocked! Well, I placed some more in different categories, we'll see how it goes. Regardless, I've decided to promote them via my web sites and mailing lists, to get people over there, and to get some of the auction credit. So far, a couple of people have signed up so that is good. The person needs to either place a bid, or run an auction, so it takes more than signing up. Still, I think they have potential, so we'll see...

cardmall: We are doing the same thing with the emails, etc. I figure Yahoo wasn't much when I started and it wasn't any better than AuXpal is now when I left. I have ran across several people I have done business with on Yahoo that are now listing on AuXpal. I have emailed them to say "Hi and I have moved here also". They were thrilled to hear that. I am more convinced with each passing day that Yahoo forgot that the sellers on Yahoo were also the buyers.

There is no doubt about that. As a seller I was already on the site regularly and familiar with it, so I went ahead and did some bidding there too. Same at Ebay. By chasing away half their sellers (so far) they have also decimated the ranks of their bidders which will not make anyone remaining happy. It is amazing that "little" things like that get overlooked when these huge policy shifts are inaugurated.

I've contacted AuXpal regarding the info. presented in the Universal Search forum. They have responded that they will be implementing some more new features to the site (all free) and when that is completed they will contact AuctionWatch to be included in Universal Search.
Now that's good news. It should help to make buyers (and more sellers) aware of the site and get some people looking over there.
Don't be afraid to talk to the people over there. I've sent about 3 emails to them in the last 24 hours and gotten a prompt response each time. Got a few more subcategories in the Books section; they're working on becoming compatible with AuctionTamer software; now working on being included in Universal Search...
So if anyone has any ideas to help spur customer awareness---talk to them!

Just a thought reading these posts about how are people goimg to find AUXPAL.
They seem to be growing in listings pretty fast. So somebody has to be finding them.
Maybe the buyers will come through a method similar to the one that sellers are coming in through.

I put a few test auctions on AuxPal, was surprised to find that at least some had 5-8 page hits on the counters which is as many as some got on yahoo. No bids yet but am optomistic.
