Seems that most of the advertising I have seen is on their own site! I'm sure they will announce at the quarterly report that they've spent x amount of money on advertising, when a lot of it is on their own site, which is basically free.
Reminds me of when some sports publisher was promoting a show that they organized, and tried to get dealers to sign on to exhibit by saying how many thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars they spent on advertising. Of course, most of that advertising was in their own publications, which cost nothing, and probably did not bring a lot of extra people into the show.
Somewhat misleading.
Also, I've been following the decline of Yahoo auctions - I've collect a single baseball player, and have seen the listings drop like this:
We're almost at 50% in 10 days or so. Wait til the free relists end, I imagine it will be down to 100 or less. Won't really be worth my while to look at Yahoo at that point...

They do seem to do plenty of advertising on Jim Rome`s radio show. I don`t listen that often, but when I do, he is advertising for them all the time. Maybe their next add can say something about how much better their site will be after 99% of the items are no longer being listed due to their idiotic fees. We`ll see if he is still promoting them in a couple of months when Yahoo auctions is a ghost town.

Is that an auction site ad or just Yahoo is general? We have seen several for Yahoo shopping but no mention of an auction site, etc. Just the name brand stores in their shopping section.

The ones I`m hearing are for Yahoo auctions. They usually tell about one or two of their higher priced items (with no mention of how high the bidding is of course.) Then they encourage listeners to go to auctions.yahoo.com and place a bid. But I`ve only heard these on the Rome Show.

I found the advertisements for Yahoo auctions. Received an email from a yahoo account and down in the signature area where hardly anybody ever looks is the ad. And we pay for this?
