Yahoo was down for 4 hours and 15 minutes yesterday. We wrote to them about outage refunds and received the following answer -
---------------------------------

Thank you for your email.

As you have noticed, Yahoo! Auctions has recently experienced a technical problem. At last report the problem was corrected. We
apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you.

Yahoo! always strives to ensure a quality Auctions experience for all participants. We apologize for any inconvenience that this downtime may have caused you. If members are unable to bid for more than 2 hours during your auction, you will receive credit for your listing fee. If the site is down at the end of your auction, it will automatically be extended to allow users to place final bids. If you continue to have difficulty with your auction, please feel free to let us know, including specific details and we'll be happy to assist you.

Thank you for taking the time to write us.
Regards,

Hope you don't mind, but I forwarded your posting over to Troy at CNET. He and I were just talking about this today. I don't think he was aware of Sunday's Yahoo fiasco.

SO does that mean Yahoo will automatically credit this to us? Or do we have to monitor the site with a stopwatch 24/7, then write yahoo in hopes you wrote to the right address? regardless, this is a first for any site to even offer a credit for downtime.

Some sites will extend the auction the extra few hours, what good does that do? nothing, I'd rather have my money back to relist for the full 10 days again.

Thank You Yahoo!

No credit showing on my account yet... in fact I found where they double charged me for a feature. If you want to call them about your account -
Yahoo Billing (408) 530-5151 between 8am and 6pm Mon-Fri.

Yahoo!Auctions makes no announcements regarding "system status".

How are sellers supposed to learn there even was an outage?
