I WILL agree with the spokeswoman Nancy Gallinghouse, the report from Yahoo WAS
expected to drop "AS MUCH" as 50% ..

Nancy is now happy with what she expected...
What is going to happen when the FREE listing
pan out, I myself have several that WILL NOT
be reposted...
I expect it will go slower but drop another
20% to a total of 70% to 80%...
I have had lots of "views" but NO buys since
the fee started...
A question for Nancy is NOW what do you expect.. IS this good...

A portal site that wants quality auctions? How bizarre! They bring in the masses to do a Search of the web, but they can no longer offer extensive listings for their own site to satisfy the broad range of tastes of these masses. How bizarre!
Ebay, a site that got its start from the humble beginnings of offering collectibles, now acknowledges that if those same collectibles don't get bids, they don't want them listed there anymore. Ebay wants to kill the very thing that made them big. How bizarre!

I expect total drop to go over 90%.
I do not know whether this matches what the people at yahoo expect (have not seen any clear indication that they expect only 50% or so).
Looking in from the home page "hot" I find a few categories which appear well able to sustain fees (for example : what's a $2.00 fee against sale of a late model motor vehicle?) Looking in any less directed manner I think that it looks like most categories have a lot of shrinking to go.

I'm seeing a 45%-50% drop in most categories already, with some categories at -75% or worse. What's left? I'm noticing a lot of overpiced, mass produced, retail items. In the clothing categories there's many, many sellers that order the same sleezy clothing from the same wholesale outlet. The sellers of these items have 2 line descriptions along with 20 lines about what else they are selling and links to their websites. I've also noticed that the majority of these sellers have low feedback ratings 0-50.
Yahoo's fees have had he opposite effect to what they said they were trying to do. There's a greater percentage of advertisement auctions now than ever before.

If this is the reaction they expected, I can only see one conclusion -- that they did this with the intention of debilitating the auction site.
And there's only one reason I know of that they would do that -- to make a merger/takeover by Ebay more attractive.

I think it might be time for the main page of the message boards to make a reminder to all posters new and old of what these rules are. At least a temporary one.
Yeah we all looked at the rules and community guidlines .....or glanced at them anyways but instead of busting a single person for breaking each rule individually
a nice simple run down list of the basic rules would be nice.
I have been an admin of a huge message board with 9,000+ active daily posters.
We had 5 rules.
1.Do not make an ass of yourself.
2.Do not post accusations of cheating.
3.Do not post bug reports.
4.Do not post kingdom numbers or names.
5.Do not post redundant messages (no spamming).
When certain forums would start a rule breaking trend a simple thread by an Admin or moderator would be soon show up.
And post this 5 rule list again.
I know you all have your rules. But I as a 28 year old adult don't think I need 4 hand spankings in a single week over things I frankly didn't see as broken rules.
