What do you do when you kill an auction site and still need page hits? Well- you aquire(?) eGroups!!I subscribe to a books email group and got the notice of the switch to Yahoo this morning.Anyone know anything about this? What is the profit? They obviously are moving in a direction away from auctions - just like Amazon did.

I don't think auctions were ever a central focus for Yahoo the way they were intended to be for Amazon.

As a member of two egroups, and a moderator ?? of one of them I can tell you that this is not new. Yahoo actually acquired the Egroups some time back. Unknown actually when. What they did yesterday was to go through and reconfigure the graphics and some of the mechanics of these groups.

BTW, it is obvious they need money badly if they could not pay enough to get someone to come up with a better color scheme than that. Looks like somebody was real strung out when they put those colors together.
All I can say is, HOW GUACHE? (<spelling?)

Anyway, they did make some improvements, like the chat rooms are better, and the latest message headings now show on the front door.

Of course, being Yahoo, they had to make sure they screwed up enough things to make us mindful of who we are dealing with. For instance, I was unable to get into either group without rejoining, and cannot get into my moderator status. Same for the group owner. However, that owner is Jan Achilles, the person who initiated the online petition against the Yahoo fees. Yahoo has now found reason(??) to TOS her. which means that she is now locked out of everthing Yahoo.

I suppose these are just a few of the system wide improvements that Yahoo has intimated about to make Yahoo a better experience for everyone. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I will end this post here because if I continue, I am sure I will be breaking CG, don't want to cause those problems. OH, BTW,

I did Email Jan a link to AW to join the discussions, and do have her permission through an Email post to Egroup Auction-Chat to tell everyone that she was TOS'd
