Someone told me that it is still free listing on Yahoo Canada, does anyone know if that is correct. I am Canadian but have never listed there.

Yes, it's free,
I just received an email recommending it to US sellers.

I just posted an auction just to see if I could do it (If it sells, I certainly have the product to sell)

My question is: I did not see in the terms of service that you need to be a Canadian to post. Do you have to be? It didn't ask me, and it used my regular Yahoo ID which originates in the US.

Of course, the only problem with this solution is that traffic is very, very low compared to the US. Just as a comparison, I did a search for an item I look to buy. On January 10, Yahoo US had over 600 listed, now it is down to 193 (or maybe lower now) - Yahoo Canada had this listed THREE times!

Wonder why they don't allow for cross posting like Ebay does, makes more sense. I have no problem purchasing from international sellers, do so all the time.

Strange...

Alan

In response to a response stating that my previous yahoo activity could not continue with the insertion fees a buyer / seller stated:

"
We had the same problem with the listing fees. We moved to yahoo Canada where there are no listing fees. We have actually sold more off of Yahoo Canada than we have regular Yahoo, and 99% of the buyers are from the US !! Since you are already registered with Yahoo you don't have to sign up again. All you have to do is go to the bottom of the Yahoo home page and go to the bottom and click on Canada. That is one way we found around their 20 cent fees !! Hope this helps. ...
"

I haven't tried it.

Remember folks when all the greedy analysts manipulating the value of Yahoo stock claimed 30-80 million innew revenue??

12 hours later they had to retract it when they found out that it was only the US site planning to charge fees.

Yahoo Canada might be a little gold mine if the sellers notify their buyers. Everyone can move to a new home.

I'm a Canadian and I have a question. When I went to the Yahoo Canada site for the first time on Jan. 10 and clicked on one page (I can't remember which page, perhaps the seller listing page), a screen came up asking me to register. I had come from a link on Yahoo U.S. site where I had logged on. When I clicked to start the registration process, a message came back that "registration was complete".

My question is: Has anyone else encountered this registration request on Yahoo Canada? If I include a link to my auctions there in my eBay EOA's, I have been wondering if I should also let people know that they shouldn't be "turned off" by the registration request because it is instantaneous if they are already registered at the U.S. site. I am just not sure if the statement is true if the bidder is an American.

Irene

P.S. - I've been planning to move to Yahoo Canada since January 9 (it was my Plan B). On Yahoo Canada you can choose to list in U.S. dollars and choose 5 automatic relists rather than 2. The only problem is that even with the same username, your Canadian Yahoo shop will not show your U.S. Yahoo listings. I am also not sure if Yahoo U.S. will allow you to show a link in your auctions there to your Yahoo Canada auctions as this might be considered fee avoidance.
