dignified wake and burial. Yahoo should have theirs too.
The first reaction to most any loved one's death is denial.
Well we have seen plenty of denial the past month from the Y! Spin Execs.
Every time they talk to anyone, things are leveling right where they expected, About 50%, About 80%, about 90%.
Haven't these folks learned you can't aim the gun after the bullet has been fired?

Next comes the grief. Well these boards have certainly had their share of lamentous(?) postings, "if only" "I'm Sad" "I really enjoyed"

This is followed by the awkward moments, where things a different and everything around you seems to not be able to work properly. And we have certainly seen that with a larger than usual share of Y! glitches and downtime. This often cause people to lash out randomly and irrationaly. We all know of people who are wondering why their account was suspended. I don't mean the ones that were obviously aware of their TOS offenses.

At any rate, I think it should be obvious to all that Yahoo has indeed gone through it's death throes and now needs to be buried.
I would hope that you all join me in asking AW to remove Yahoo Auctions from it's seperate thread and place it under Other Online Auctions.
I would suggest replacing it on the podium with the second largest listing auction site, however there appears that litigation may be in the future for AW and that site.
I therefore recommend that the fastest growing site be elevated to the stage, and given a front door position here.

AW, bring bidville up now, please.

"THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING"

OK, if I sound like a cheerleader, I guess I am. but what I have said is true nonetheless. Bidville should be brought up and also should be added to the search engine. If for no other reason than to give browsers a larger selection.

Edited to add: THanks dimview, verymodern and all of the others for keeping a finger on thje patients pulse throughout the ordeal. time to zip the bag though.

Nice eulogy and I will add a resounding AMEN. I loved Yahoo in it's time and still miss it but wouldn't go back now for anything. BidVille is!!!! I have had more sales per week than I have had on Yahoo in months. So far I have had NO DEADBEAT BIDDERS!!!!! 100% payment!!!!

I agree with Jim. It's time to remove Yahoo from the honored position they had on AW.

I second the motion AW bring bidville on board. I went to work this week and wow! what a drop even more. Thanks dimview and others. And you're right the Yahoo success stories no longer have listings on Yahoo. Now if I were a newbie to Yahoo wouldn't that make me suspicious HINT HINT Yahoo MANAGERS!

If Yahoo and BidVille changed places in listing numbers shouldn't they have to trade places in the AW listing?

I think AW gives an auction site it's own board when the number of posts go dramatically up for that site. If you go to "Other Auctions," Bidbay has more postings than Bidville. Bidbay should get its own board, not Bidville.

I sure hope some of that BidVille Good Luck rubs off because I can't seem to get anything going there, regardless of what I post, and I have posted items from novelties to antiques, and at the same price I have easily moved them on Yahoo and eBay and zip on BidVille - maybe it is just me - got so frustrated with it today, I took a couple of items back to Yahoo and they sold in 2 hours there! What can I say? I didn't want to, but sure was nice to get some sales....outside of eBay.

If you want sales at Bidville it's going to take a while. Yahoo was pretty dead when I first started listing there and it slowly picked up over time.

I personally will just stick with Ebay and slowly use my credits on Yahoo while one of these other sites starts to mature.

telwil

I hope that Bidville takes over where yahoo left off. BIDBAY, on the other hand, can rot for all I care....

FOOL ME ONCE SHAME ON YOU, FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME -

My excitement in getting some sales again on Yahoo is very short lived - I got those 2 sales on Yahoo, went back in and posted them again, along with 2 more, and before they could cool, all my auctions and my account were cancelled by Yahoo because of a link back to my web site! That does it - won't do any more Yahoo testing - with all the porn in the wrong categories - this type of auction interference is ridiculous....what was I selling you may ask, well three different types of lamps, one 1800 Stain Glass Window, one legal knife, and a pipe, all legal on Yahoo so it had to be the link to my web site......that is too much - I'm gone! Guess I actually thought they were actually interested in quality listings! Fool that I am!

Well, think I'll succumb and post on eBay tonight - I've already got basics out on all the smaller sites....can you believe I was dumb enough to go back and let YaWho mess me up again - dumb me, dumb, dumb me!

Could someone post the address to bidville auctions or any other decent auctions sight theyhave switched to. I've done a search and couln't find bidville. I had over 325 auctions listed at Yahoo and have let them all expired as I can't afford to pay $1.50 every 10 days to list them all. I'm looking for a new sight.

Thanks,

Amazon is a good site for high dollar items if they are still offering the $40 a month for 5000 listings, dont hold me to it, have heard they changed some.

PS twenty9021tonothing- whatever, you missed the 10 cent item I spent 1 cent on and gave postage value freebees !!!. Be sure to check book value for my LOSS on those, losses are better then gains for me. many 10 centers over booked, those are the ones that hurt.

Thanks for the info on bidville and bidbay. I have registered at both and will try some auctions. Does anyone have a preference to which sight is best? From a brief look, I like bidvilles auction submitting page. I've got a lot of odd items, some regulars too. Most sell for $75 to a few hundred and some in the thousands. I don't want to list them all at the wrong place since it is a ton of work. I've been uploading images to AW for the last 2 weeks, but have quit at 500+ images until I decide which way to go and still have another 180 images to decide on. Yahoo used to be a dream to easily list stuff too, but no use crying over spilled milk. I used to use Yahoo auctions more like classifieds. They had very poor bidding on most items and generally, if I got one bid I was lucky, so I used "buy prices" a lot that matched the opening bids. In my early days I would wait for 14 days for the auctions to close and then wait another 12 days to find out the buyer was a deadbeat. Now I get reults faster with my new system. Abpout 25% of Yahoos buyers were deadbeats. I sold over 220 items there but only got feedback for 119 and 13. Since I'm liquidating an estate I'm not a biz trying to get top dollar for everything, so I have changed over to . I just want to get a fair price and sell it ASAP.

Thanks Again,

Fookisan and henry_cavendish (formerly from Yahoo.)

twentytwowhatever-

I dont even know who you are or where you came from, for you to know something about me is an honor, I guess? Or is it sick?

I dont know what or where you sell or do I care, are we competitors? dont care, maybe you can be a dear and offer free services such as monitoring my auctions for me? Coffee is good too, HOT with a little sugar, cream and PLain do nuts have to watch the waistline hon. Isn't that how you treated Yahoo? think about it.

I am sure there are sellers with real problems, real money for you to attack.

Michele-

I'm not in the least interested in her, I've been there done that, but if you would peruse the Moderators' threads, there are a few people here who have taken huge exception to her umm spewage. And they have
very good reason. I for one don't quite understand how she's allowed to continue, but hey, that's not my affair...

jwpc,

I dont understnad why the link to websites bother yahoo, you would think your site would only bring folks back to yahoo, have read of many sellers with this dismay that I am sure your website not only got help from Yahoo but vice versa.

Hope to hear a reason for this soon. It has put a stop to alot of people in the process of building a site.

Some of the posts here are very hard to follow. They remind me of some of 12 step lists I've been on. Anyway, I got a mail this morning from Bidbay that says they plan on charging fees in April 01. Do you think that will affect that sight as it has Yahoo and they wil suffer a mass departure? They said listing will remain free. I don't mind paying fvf's, am just adverse to high lsting fees. I accept biz's have to make money. Still have not had any reply's reagrding Bidville vs BidBay here. Has anyone had experience with both of them?

Thanks,

fookisan

Most people seem to prefer BidVille, Personally I've been getting some sales on BidBay, but none on BidVille. I am posting on both as the tests of different sites continues after the demise of Yahoo, and their obvious plunge into total insanity.

I just noticed that someone else said that BidBay would soon start charging, but not for listings, which is fine with me, I don't mind FVF, but do object to newer sites which use Listing Fees - why don't you take a limited but cross category selection of items and post on each and make your own decision.

I've been listing on BidVille, Epier, and SnapRat. I listed 30 items on SnapRat and sold one, the buyer never email or paid for the item. I listed 25 items on Epier and had no bids. I listed 28 items on BidVille and sold 3, and all were paid for. I have since listed over 300 items on BidVille and have had over 20 sales, this is much better than I was doing on YAHOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo!

Thanks for your input regarding Bidville and Bidbay. I've put 5 auctions on Bidville and plan to put more on today. If I get a decent amount of hits, I'll transfer the rest of the 300+ auctions to that sight. I do this in my spare time and generaly stick with one sight once my auctions are all set up, so I like time saving features. I especcially like being able to re-list auctions up to 99 times. I found a few bugs at BV, but every new sight has problems that need to be addressed. Wish they would add a 3rd photo option and the resizing drops my photo quality otherwise it seems very well set up. Hope they start to advertise to bring in more selers and buyers. Take care and happy selling!!!
