ALL AUCTIONS: Today Playboy Listings declined by 157 listings or 1.4%! I guess that was to be expected, after Thursday’ dramatic increase of 887 or 8.3%. The Number of Playboy Listings with Bids decreased by 49 or 3.1%. The percent of Listings with Bids is 14.0%. AT YAHOO: The Number of Playboy Listings decreased by 280 or 42.2%. The Number of Playboy Listings with Bids increased by 23 or 30.7%. The percent of Listings with Bids is 13.7% AT PLAYBOY AUCTIONS: Today Playboy Listings increased by 115 listings or 13.7% The Number of Playboy Listings with Bids decreased by 6 or 3.4%. This auction still continues to have the highest percent of Listings with Bids 17.0%. AT EBAY: Today Playboy Listings decreased by 369 listings or 5.1%! (Excuse me while I issue myself a formal warning and take a moment to review the Community Guidelines) C'mon now... even the most ardent Yahoo! hater cannot honestly say that the categories mentioned above were as 'active' 2 months ago as they are now. 2 months ago in category 50883 there were ~100 pages of items and 3 pages with bids. Today, there are 14 pages of items and over 2 1/2 pages with bids. So the listing fees eliminated 86 pages of items that were never going to be bid on anyway. Yes, there were probably 5 or 10 fifty cent cards out of those thousands of auctions that would have eventually sold, but I would gladly sacrifice all that junk to have a category that I can now browse and find great cards at reasonable prices on EVERY page. And don't tell me that what you were selling was not junk and was reasonably priced, I never said it was YOU. Every time the word 'junk' gets mentioned by a buyer, EVERY seller on this board immediately takes it as a personal attack on their auctions. I have no idea who any of you are, what you sell or at what price you sell it; and therefore I can make no judgement on YOUR auctions. I do however spend a significant amount of time browsing the Sports Cards categories on Yahoo! Auctions and I can tell you for a FACT that they were inundated with JUNK before January 10th. Yes, I know that one persons junk may be another's treasure. And yes, if you list 10,000 common 10 cent cards you will eventually sell one to that one collector who desperately needs that Joe Scrub to complete his set. But, you're also going to drive away 99% of the other bidders who don't have the patience to wade through all that crap to find something worth bidding on. So now, that 1% of bidders that were looking for junk are SOL, but the rest of us can enjoy a REAL auction site. To me, this is PROOF that Yahoo! made the right decision on January 10th. PS- I love your sarcasm and eagerly await a bitter, caustic tonguelashing with absolutely no substance.

forshoppin	posted on February 18, 2001 08:25:05 AM new As a buyer of certain players and looking for the higher dollar insert cards for those players - yes, having to search through the 1000's of 10 cent listings is a pain. As a buyer of those 10 cent cards to finish off our sets I am glad someone lists them. If Yahoo's "search" worked people wouldn't have to wade through thousands of pages to find the card they were looking for. I just went looking for "corduroy" for my mother today. Hit Yahoo search and I got stuff in no way related to "corduroy" {including the yahoo specialty porn}. However, did the same search on BidVille and eBay and got exactly what I was looking for. Place a couple bids on each site. Yahoo auctions have always been a poorly operated joke but I never complained because it was free. I wouldn't pay for such service in the real world and I sure won't on line.
