Why continue posting to this category. It only keeps readers focused on Yahoo Auctions. This is attention Yahoo Auctions does not deserve.

Silence of a topic, does not mean the topic ceases to exist. Post it anywhere else, and you will get a tap on the shoulder by a moderator. Putting ones head in the sand, only makes an easy target of that which is still exposed.

I agree with what you are saying. Now that Yahoo is no longer #2, it should be down in the basement with other online auctions, but I think as long as it gets more posts than others, it will continue to have it's own forum. Of course having a front door spot also means that it will automatically get more posts in the form of generic questions which could apply to any auction site.
And not all of the posts have to be supportive of Yahoo to be Yahoo related. So for now, I guess it is a CATCH 22 situation.

The message boards are presumably paid for by advertising. If a lot of posters are interested in a topic and post about it, then I don't see how it matters how many listings an auction site has.

It's not the number of listings on an auction site but the number of posters on the related message board that matter as far as the advertiser is concerned.

"Now that Yahoo is no longer #2, it should be down in the basement with other online auctions"

Using that logic, eBay should be behind bars with all the other online crooks ...

Yes, and just because YOU may have left yahoo, that doesn't mean that EVERYONE has. I think that even people who have left may be interested (to a degree) in reading about how those who have stayed on are doing. Lots of people are curious about "what could have been"...

Also, amazon still has its own forum here. Why do you begrudge Yahoo a forum too???

If you don't want to read about Yahoo, all you have to do is stay out of here, it seems simple to me!

Quite right. If you are still listing with Yahoo, you are in the right category. This is a sharp crowd.

Have you ever heard the story, or song "Misery Loves Company?" Yahoo may be dead but there are a lot of miserable people (including myself) because of feeling betrayed by Yahoo - and it is really nice to come to this board and get a little comfort in knowing that I am not alone!

I rememberback a long time ago.....when life was much easier.

Yesterday I sold a total of 20 items (to a total of 4 buyers). I didn't incurr any real listing cost as I still have lots of funny money. I'm happy... for now.

"Ummm agree with Stockticker and Cagirl not everyone has left Yahoo..."

twelvepole, Yeah you're right. They only lost 90% to 95% of their listings and the numbers are still sliding. Why do you make these ridiculous comments. You've purchased 3 items on eBay in 4 years and you still have 0 feedback on Yahoo. You have no credibility. Get Real.

Sugmoi: I've been Twelvepole's posts here on AW for over a year. He has built reputation capital, at least with me. You on the other hand have 8 posts to your name, all negative. How much credibility do you think you deserve here?

I started selling on www.Onsale.com prior to yahoo buying it in late 1997. It was a great site and yahoo did add to it in many ways and I sold for several years, but, it has all changed. I had twelve auctions canceled today. TOS alledged violations...I sell jewelry, I had a high and long feed back...1 negative from 1999....go figure. I emailed for a refund of the listing fees since they canceled and didn't fulfil the contract of providing an auction-they answered with an unsigned email..."no refund"...I responded..."I will dispute the charges with my credit card issuer and see you in small claims court for an local judge's opinion"-to be continued.
Four years and locked out of mail too.
I recommend no one having their mail at yahoo; they literally locked me out of the mail, fortunately I had it forwarded when they started charging listing fees since I began to distust their business judgement, so that's not lost...conclusion....don't trust yahoo!! Find another auction site to support and expect it to eventually be bought by an unscrupulous company like yahoo.

zjg, Sorry to hear about your run in with Yahoo. I take that they canceled your account if you can't access your email. Thats good advice concerning Yahoo's email. I switched over to hotmail when I heard Yahoo was locking users out of their email accounts. As far as I'm concerned, Yahoo can cancel the 5% of sellers they've retained and become an island unto themselves. Yahoo's reputation is shot. They are amateurs.

Some of us depending on your genre of merchandise are doing the same if not better now. I know I am in a minority here but I understand what everyone here is going through and their disappointments on their former homes.

Sugomi I don't use Twelvepole on ebay and so 4 purchases in 4 years should tell you something. it's just there.
I do however make frequent purchases on ebay and Yahoo, but I don't have to justify anything to you.
Yahoo is still a viable site and has legitimate sellers. Other sites need to "grow up" and maybe they can play with the big dogs.

lovepotions, you said "Some of us depending on your genre of merchandise are doing the same if not better now."

You sell in the adult section, so your sales can't be compared to those of most of the rest of us. Pornography sells well ALL OVER THE NET, not just at YaWho, so try listing something "non-sexy" and see how much success you have with it on YaWho.
