I just received this note from Yahoo PayDirect
AL CLEMENS(via Yahoo! PayDirect)
Yahoo! PayDirect has cancelled the money sent to you by AL CxxxxxxxS
([email protected])!
Transactions that are not responded within 30 days are automatically cancelled
by Yahoo! PayDirect.
********
Like many others, Yahoo cancelled our account on TOS, which also cancelled our PayDirect account. I called Yahoo regarding this about a month ago and they assured me that all funds in our PayDirect account would immediately be transferred to our credit card on file. Obviously, this isn't the case. I couldn't get into the account to accept this money, so Yahoo returns it to the buyer, who has already received his merchandise!!!
I knew the money was there but hadn't picked it up, and of course never expected to have our account cancelled over night, and not have access.
I think Yahoo has gone a step too far - this is pure theft. They know I can't get into the account, how in heck did they expect me to accept the funds?
Anyone with a PayDirect account is gambling with their own money and playing with fire!

please call them and try to straighten it out, I am sincerely hoping that it was just a case of crossed wires and the left hand at Yahoo not knowing what the right hand was doing.

When Yahoo Paydirect first started, I did not realize that you had to claim your money within 30 days or it would be returned to the buyer. Yahoo returned two different buyers money on auctions they won and merchandise sent. I telephoned Yahoo and they said once the money was returned to the buyer they could not reverse the action! I had no choice except to contact the buyers and request that they send the money again, which they did, although one was quite rude about it. Now as soon as someone pays me through PayDirect, I transfer it immediately to my credit card. Since you can't access your PayDirect account, you might want to consider contacting the buyers and ask if they will pay you through PayPal.

If you phone, please ask for written e-mail confirmation of what is said/promised. In these situations it is always wise to write down the name of the person you speak to as well.

I recently signed up for a paydirect account and man, was it ever a nightmare! Now reading what you've all said makes me want to stay strictly with PayPal and ProPay. However, I need to find out if ProPay pulls the same kind of 30 day return to buyer shenanegans as Paydirect? The one reason that has always made me operate on a cash/check basis only.

If anyone else encounters this problem BE CAREFUL I replied to this e-mail from Yahoo and in a business like manor told them how the cow ate the cabbage. Only after I hit send did I realize that the return e-mail address was to my buyer, not to Yahoo!!! Cute little trick!
I had two friend who also lost their accounts on unknown TOS violations, and their accounts in PayDirect were also frozen, that is they couldn't get into them to recover their funds. They had to pay to call Yahoo, and Yahoo "promised" to return their funds. This is really ridiculous - personally I would advise anyone with a PayDirect Account to get the heck out of Dodge, as you never now when you too may have your account cancelled for some unknown TOS, and have your PayDirect Account locked down.
You may be thinking or feeling as I did when I opened my PayDirect account, and Yahoo account that This can't happen to me, and certainly not by such a large company, they have to be reputable.
Well, after years on eBay I had the confidence of never being bothered with regards to my auctions. Oh yes, I had one eBay suspension, but eBay doesn't cancel your account, your feedback, didn't touch my BillPoint account, and actually called to talk to me about the reason for the suspension. I reasoned if eGreed was that reasonable, how could there possibly be problems with Yahoo. I made the pride mistake - I had over 544 positive feedback on Yahoo; I auctioned "quality" items, I was an eBay Power Seller, and I had a great sell through rate, so I Assumed, at Yahoo I was untouchable! Ha Ha WRONG! Yahoo seems to take out their TOS posting violations in a rather indiscriminate manor, regardless of history, feedback, or sell through rate. No one is safe, and you may never know what your offence was!!!!
I am back at eBay and selling without the fear of the Nazis at Yahoo.
I'll stay with PayPal, who has been very business like and professional in our dealings with them, and naturally isn’t connected with any auction site.

Yahoo Paydirect took a lot of money from me after I had sent out the merchandise. My account was not canceled and I accepted the money. There was no form email, etc...the amount just vanished. I don't trust yahoo at all anymore...not that I really ever did.

I have no idea what happened. I accepted the money and my account showed the balance. About a week later, the balance showed up as $0.00. No email explanation, yahoo won't return my emails, no notation on the history concerning its disappearance, it's just vanished. I wish I could tell you more, but that's all I know.

I have money stuck in there they won't let me "move" out. I get an error message that says I have reached the 200.00 limit, but I have not reached that limit.
I can't get a response to my emails and when I call on the phone I get put on hold forever and no one evers picks up the line to talk to me.
I guess I was one of the ones who thought it couldn't happen to me. Boy was I wrong!
I am still waiting to be contacted, but it is starting to look like that won't happen. I thought maybe it was just a glitch at first but everyday I try to move it and the same thing happens.

I have found that the ones that scream the loudest, and make a royal pain of themselves, are the ones that will get real answers from Yahoo.
They cancelled my account for no reason, you know, the canned letters referring you to TOS. I ran the exact same auctions for almost a year with no problems. Then the fees started and they went nuts cancelling accounts.
I wrote nasty, crazy letters to them about who do they think they are keeping the money in my account. After 3 letters like that, some one wrote back and explained that when they cancel your account, all funds left in paydirect are transfered to your credit card. I checked and they were there.
Now for the best part, lol.
They cancelled my account, but said this:
(this is copied from their email to me)
"We take the operation of Yahoo! and the TOS very seriously. We continue
to support Users who abide by the TOS.
You are welcome to establish a new account with Yahoo! at any time,
provided that your use complies with our Terms of Service and Auction
Guidelines. However, you may not be able to use Yahoo! Auctions. If you
are concerned that your intended use of our service may be a violation
of the TOS or Guidelines, we encourage you to review the TOS, Guidelines
and to take care to proceed accordingly."
See that in there that says you are welcome to open another account? Ok, thats what I did, tried to open another one. During the registration, it tells me that I can not use that credit card because its being used by my old user name!!!
I went really nuts then, lol, wrote back screaming that they said my account was cancelled and I want my credit card info purged from their systems! If they are going to cancel an account, then DO IT!
Here is the next letter I got, lol:
Thank you for your email.
We appreciate your inquiry. If you have had an account deactivated for a
violation of our Terms of Service, you may not be able to participate in
Yahoo! Auctions. For more information on the Yahoo! Terms of Service and
the Yahoo! Auctions Guidelines, please visit:
HUH???? First they say I can open another account, now I get this!
They have no idea what they are doing, lol!!!
If you have been cancelled with money in paydirect, check your credit card, it should be there.
They are very confusing and out of control. I am waiting for them to just close up, they cant keep going like this.
have a great day!

Isn't it about time to contact Visa and Master direct, as to the illegal actions of Yahoo. Also you might contact your Senator and US Representative. Get the Fed's involved, and write to every media outlet possible and get this out in the light of day and let the public know about this illegal behavior of Yahoo. Yahoo can't stand more bad publicity. Spread the word - Yahoo needs to be exposed, far beyond these boards, which is no exposure at all.
When a company starts absconding with customer funds, it is time to call in the law.
Don't just sit there - e-mail this whole thread to your Senators, Representatives, to every possible media outlet - and to the Department of Commerce - Interstate Commerce! Only puting this out in front of the public will get Yahoo's attention.
Quit wasting your time trying to contact Yahoo - tell the world about the REAL Yahoo!

Does someone have a phone number for Yahoo PayDirect? I've submitted several requests to Customer Service over the last three days, and have not heard anything.
