Hi all. I was wondering if anyone here knows anything at all about Yahoo Messenger?
I see it on the bottom of my auctions. It says "Not online"
So I thought, if I download that and someone has a question they could contace immediately from there. But it doesn't seem to work that way. Because when I go to my auctions it still shows that I am "Not online".
So....does anyone know how this works. Should it show that I am or am not on-line?
I thought it might help with some of those questions that get asked then lost by the Yahoo system.

It is supposed to show that you are online but the system is full of bugs. Most of the time when I am not even logged in to Messenger it still shows that I am online. Right now it is showing that I am not online, but I am currently logged in to messenger. So the system might just be down.

I'm glad to see I am not the only person who was wondering about this! I have emailed Yahoo several times, asking if there was something I had to do to "sign in" to the auctions. Never got an answer not even a canned one. Asked on the message board and never got an answer. Sometimes it shows me as online and sometimes it doesn't. I thought I was just too "tech-no logic-ly challenged" to figure it out.

First you have to download their software. Then install it. Then sign-on to Yahoo Messinger. Is it worth it? Perhaps for the free phone calls, but having people say hi and asking questions about an item while assuming you are looking at the same page they are, is a pain. I disable the messenger part then make free phone calls anywhere in the USA. The other party doesn't need messenger or even a computer...just a phone. The problem is the data gets transmitted most of the way in packets, and there is a short lag and an echo for the party with the phone. The lag is ok...just pretend you're on a CB and say "over" when you are through saying something to clue in the other party it's their turn. The echo is caused by the packet being sent back to their piece by the packet lag and is annoying. I tell the phone party to take the earpiece away when they are speaking...they don't need to hear what they just said anyways.
