I am a seller and a darn good one.I have been in this business for 25 years. The monthe of March was extremely difficult for my family. My grandson needed surgery and we were out of town for almost a month. My winning bidders new this!I got back a little later than we anticipated and some of the items went out rather slowly.I explained the situation too all and they were most understanding.I say MOST!Well I thought they were.I have never meant to hurt anyone nor steal anyones money and not send them the product. Now ones filing a fraud claim and another is Negging and Negging.ETC.Nasty emails and nasty comments in the NFB!I would like to know what the heck would happen to you if you were faced with a baby, be it child or grandchild or whatever the case may be,be severely ill and have to have 6 hours of surgery?I hope nobody has to go through what my kids have gone through, because its not easy!Well guess what people,I guess I should have not bothered explaining to anyone and then I would have deserved the
nastiness! But they knew all along and this is what I get!No Sympathy Expected from this post! Thanks all for listening to me vent!

Negs aren't the end of the world and customers don't have to be sympathetic and understanding. They're reporting THEIR experience with you on a specific transaction.

Just respond to the negs by stating that a family emergency resulted in shipping delays and customer was informed of the delay. Let potential bidders draw their own conclusions.

God be with you and your family. How is the baby doing?

That was a rotten thing to happen on top of an already bad family situation. Some people are just jerks! Explain in your response to the feedback, as suggested above, and concentrate your energies on the really important things in life.

We went to a big antique fair yesterday, and somewhere, I lost an entire bag of merchandise I had bought. I was really upset about this and feeling sorry for myself. On the way home, we drove up on a horrible accident...an suv had thrown a tire tread, turned on it's side, and slid into two other cars. The helicopter was leaving when we got there, and a body on the highway was covered.

How terribly unimportant my bag of lost goodies suddenly seemed in comparison to what these people were suffering! I said a little prayer to God about these victims, and my pettiness. Your baby will be there long after those negatives are forgotten.

Keep us updated on the baby's progress. It's amazing how quickly they recover from something that would take us old folks forever to get over!

If you were good enough to email me at auction end or even let me know as a potential bidder the situation, I would of waited forever as long as the communication was flowing.
It is only when you have NO communication do I get excited and peeved.
Sorry if your bidders weren't understading, but I really hope you had good communication, or I can understand their frustration.
Just went through a no communication auction and had to file fraud charges with every agency under the sun, finally 2 months later, I got my item.
Ain't Life Grand...

I understand how you feel about this. We went through some challenges recently that caused us to be late mailing packages. Most people were wonderful and we received some glowing feedback for how we handled the situation, however, there are some people out there that think the world revolves around them. The people we had problems with were other sellers (the self important, anal type), everyone else was very forgiving.

Personally, I don't really care how fast I receive the item as long as I actually receive it and it is in good condition.

Don't get too down on a few idiots, you know from these boards that there are some in each and every crowd. Remember that most people are decent and mean well. Sometimes I find it useful to ask those who are being offensive to ask "what should I have done?" given the circumstances. It can help them to realize, and of course, some are still pretty small minded. You have much more important things to deal with.
Best wishes to you.

I just wanted to reply to your question about the maker of that umbrella stand. It looks like a Van Briggle to me. I'm no expert, or anywhere near being an expert. But I'm 3rd generation native to Colorado Springs (which is where Van Briggle comes from) and it just looks like a Van Briggle. Perhaps that may help?
