Just got my notebook auction canceled by Yahoo and also my account blocked. Not exactly sure why but I think, Microsoft is behind it, I am selling notebook with windows 95 and office 97 installed as it originial came with. At least give me some explanation Yahoo, no warning, nothing. Hope they refund my listing fee.

This is why I would look elsewhere before paying Yahoo to host your website or storefront. I started to sign up for the webhosting ($14.95 for 250 meg) but thought better of it. I don't trust Yahoo. Too many sellers have had their accounts closed without any warning.

Sounds like Yahoo. You can kiss your listing fees goodbye - they will keep them.

This has happened to several folks who post here regularily. Nice little scam that Yahoo has going there ... they can cancel anyone's auctions for no reason, provide no warning, and pocket the listing fees. You may want to contact you credit card company and see if they will put a stop to any billings by Yahoo.

Your listing fees are gone! They canceled an account I had for 2 years, 129 feed back (without warning) including my yahoo mail. I had paid $19.95 for the extra mail storage. No reason given, no access to the mail, lost all email addresses, folders, etc, of all the customers during a two year period. Refused access to my mail account. I sold fine jewelry - go figure- never had one negative feed back. They refused to refund the storage fee and any listing fees. Refused to provide the reason for the account being canceled. When I threatened "small claims court" they finally answered that the terms of service provides their ability to cancel and not refund and aren't required to give a reason for anything they do. Going to small claims court wasn't worth the $19.95 so I simply opened another auction account, keep my mail going to my ISP, started building a new customer base and feed back and am very wary of anything proposed by yahoo. I caution every seller beware of Yahoo....they have absolutely no loyality, gratitude, nor integrity. They epitomize ruthlessness! Place no confidence in this company. Do your sales with the knowledge that you could be history with yahoo without warning.
Unfortunately, for we sellers yahoo does have user friendly auction format and huge viewer base so until another comes along I still am using their auction site.

Welcome to the club. Yahoo "terminated" my account early this year. I had sold about 75 auctions with about $20,000 in sales, all excellent feedbacks. Of course I got no explanation from them, I've had a few ebay auctions ended but at least ebay will tell you WHY they ended the auction so you won't make the same mistake again. The worst aspect of Yahoo terminating me was that they locked up my email account - I had tons of good business contacts in my email address book and they are gone forever. Foolish me...

Are all of you telling us that you have "no idea" why your accounts were blocked or canceled? None? You can't venture a guess? Nothing the least bit shady going on? Bootleged CD's? Brand name selling?

I can't swallow that? Maybe you need to search the policies or something. Did you call them and ask? What were you told?

I just can't beleive that Yahoo just randomly picked your accounts to block or cancel, "just because".

Actually, mine was blocked for reporting the bootleggers

Up until the fees thing, Yahoo and I had a great relationship ... I reported the sleaze and they ended the auctions and suspended the IDs (not the sellers who kept coming back with different IDs!). Of course, when the fees started, Yahoo, for some reason, decided that it was OK to sell bootlegs and pirated stuff on their site (wonder why???).

As a matter of fact, on their home page they even include a few links to the bootleg auctions (check "sopranos" or "tv episodes" for example)!!

No point in calling them ... they absolutely refuse to talk about this issue anymore.

somewhere i have heard yahoo wants to compete against ebay in a big way, dontknow the details but hard to believe yahoo customer service can be so inept or business policy so ruthless??
no one stays in business long by being inept or ruthless.
i have a yahoo shop and i tread carefully among the big guys such as smithsonian museum shops, barnes and noble etc.
i have dealt with yahoo customer service and technical support and their shopping cart provider paymentech enough to know they are no better or worse than other company customer service.

Keep a low profile, report no copyright infringements by sellers, request nothing from Yahoo and you may slip through without being canceled. However, Prior to yahoo losing 92 percent of their auction business they wouldn't give you the time of day...period. There are literally thousands of previous sellers on auctions.yahoo that were booted from yahoo and locked out of their mail as well as the other access to the auctions. There aren't too many posting on this thread these days most have go on to other auctions or other means of selling their wares, but, we're not saying these things about yahoo without personal experience. " A word to the wise is sufficient". Take care,
