I have a non paying bidder that refuses to answer my emails. It has been 10 days now.

I am not sure if it is my best interest to just cancel his bid or hit the Non Paying Bidder" button. Being new I do not want any negative feedback. I am afraid if I give him negative he will do the same in reverse.

How do experienced sellers handle these cituations? What does the AW "Non Paying Bidder" button do?

Thanks

Did you give the bidder a payment must be made by date? I always state one then give 2-3 days extra before filing NPB. If they have a lot of good ratings I'll write first asking if they simply forgot about the auction. If they have low or no ratings the original EOA is all they get, I just file the NPB.

I have 400 pos so I don't worry about getting negged back. Long before the NPB system began for all negs I simply entered "no payment ever received". I've never displayed attitude or used name-calling to any bidder in feedback or email. I think that's why I have never been negged back from about 25 negs given.

The only way to get your listing fee refunded is to file NPB. I have filed 4, two apologized & paid up and the other two never responded. One who paid sent me a copy of the email Yahoo sent him, here's what it said:

"Yahoo! Auctions is sending this email to inform you that there seems to be a lack of communication between you and the seller regarding the auction described below. The seller has had difficulty completing the transaction, and you are listed as the winning bidder. Here is the information we have for this auction:
......{url to auction, winning bid amount, seller ID and email add plus the comments seller included in original complaint to Yahoo entered here}.......

Please try to resolve this situation directly with the seller. Many problems are simply a result of miscommunication between buyer and seller. We urge you to contact the seller by email to complete the auction transaction.

If no agreement is reached after 10 days, the seller may choose to file a formal complaint. This will be recorded permanently as an auction abuse and your participation in Yahoo! Auctions may be jeopardized.

If you are unable to resolve this matter with the seller, and you feel you are being wrongfully accused, you may file a "Bidder Appeal Form" by clicking on the appropriate link from the closed auction page. You will receive a confirmation message and your appeal will go on record.

Thank you for using Yahoo! Auctions,

---------

You have to complete the NPB steps before you cancel the winner or post a rating. Step 1 is to click the NPB on the auction now and step 2 is to go back in 10 days and click escalate complaint if the bidder did not contact you. As soon as you click escalate complaint a refund of the listing fee will appear in your wallet. If you want to you can then cancel winner, post feedback and relist. Those 3 are optional.
